Money: master the game

Check out the Tim Ferriss show (podcast). Pretty diverse podcast that addresses finance, health, lifestyle design, tech, philosophy/literature. Very high yield stuff to listen to in the car. Ferriss has some very good, non-conventional thinking books you may want to check out (maximizing gains with minimal effort, meta-learning,etc).

I can go along with the idea that maybe the science isn't correct. It wouldn't be the first time humans were wrong about something. Where you lose me is the people claiming it's an international conspiracy involving thousands of scientists intent on bilking grant dollars and proping up liberal governments.

No conspiracy, just hubris

Look how sure we were about nutrition. Look how nice and healthy our populace is in light of these changes that were made. One cannot fully appreciate the unintended consequences of interventionalism in a process we do not fully understand. The agendas however will continue.

The video below is a great summary of our (mis)understanding of nutrition by the intelligenstia.

My wife and I trained with her. You can read her credentials in her linked bio.

She is a subspecialist in urogynecology (may/may not be applicable to you).

Also, if you were enraged by his decision, you need to take a long, hard look inward. The kid decided to play for a better program with the hope of winning a NC and getting more national exposure.

I hold no ill will to him, but the people who would offer him jobs would (exhibit A: the rant)

I would put myself in the best possible scenario to succeed. I understand his decision, but I also understand player longevity statistics, head trauma, favoritism and how the world works also...
The point is that going to Bama was a likely short term gain/ potential long term hindrance.

This young man should hope and pray that he has a long and prosperous career in the NFL, as there will not be a cushy job reserved for him in South Louisiana once the league is done bashing that beautiful mind around.

Option A: Drafted in the first round. Endears himself to the local community that he grew up in. Sets himself up to be "taken care of" when he walks or is carted away from football.

Option B: Drafted in the first round. Win a national championship. Compete in the playoffs for another national championship. Enrages the local community. Hopes like hell he has a long and prosperous NFL career with judicious management of his money...

Short term good decision, long term???

Fixed it for ya...

A slightly taller, potentially more explosive version of this guy....

This shite does not frick around

Had the same issue (key word is had..)

Best of luck. I also linked a really good primer earlier in the thread that I give to my patients / families. It is a great resource for all things urology (if you drive around the site).
LINK

I have linked a urologic oncologist at Michigan (UM), Todd Morgan, that you can consider for a 2nd opinion

I trained with him at Vandy

He trained at UW (Seattle)
Fellowship at Vanderbilt

Smart, personable guy. Created drawMD LINK

Will be plugged in to UM system (very reputable)

If your mom is in good health (good performance status) there may be more option available to her (if she has only been seen by a medical oncologist).
AUA info on kidney CA

Great resource that I use with my patients. Hope this helps.
Has your mom consulted with a urologic oncologist ?

Hard to comment without knowing specifics about your mom's overall health, but:

Removal of the kidney can still be appropriate in the setting of metastatic disease

Was there a discussion regarding if she is a candidate for IL-2 therapy. It is the only therapy that can cure (with the trade off of extreme toxicity / side effects).

Where does your mom live?

I expect the 10 basic rules to your little realm to be painted on a barn. Remember that all are created equal, but some are more equal than others...

Please also include the singing of "Beasts of England" in your example, old major.

Should be a non- issue as her "man" likely has castrate levels of testosterone from being exposed to her in excessive doses

If any issues remain she can send her future suitors or male colleagues my way so I can provide them (and society) a cost effective solution with a vasectomy. I would block out a Friday afternoon to accommodate em.

As far as breakfast logic goes:

The chicken is dedicated, but the pig is committed. Paradoxically, she is likely both and neither of these at the same time

Ribbing aside, that is pretty interesting stuff.
