He’d be the oldest HC in college football, replacing his buddy Belichick as the current oldest HC by 2 yrs.

Not true. Florida has given Napier all that he wants. He has one of the largest support staffs not including coaches in all of college football.

Nothing. He isn't coming back. Especially not as head coach, if anything.

He'd come back for what, two years, three years? What happens when he re-retires and every coach on your radar has a vivid memory of how Bama fricked DeBoer? You can't do it unless the wheels fall off this season.

But if I had to bet I'd bet he doesn't come back st all. 51% confidence.

And just who was McElroy's sauce? Sexton? It has to be Sexton.

ETA: While Saban to Auburn would be the favored outcome for 15/16 SEC teams Saban knows that Harvey wasn't the only Updyke in the godforsaken trailerhoods of Alabama. Even though a solid majority of Bama fans would not commit murder over a bidness decision it only takes one. And that's without even addressing the murderous Tide basketball program.

Why would Bama want a washed up 70 year old coach?

There are a handful of “Alabama” fans here who post the dumbest shite. It is like they intentionally post the most ridiculous take possible. They come to conclusions that are 180 degrees from what a logical person would conclude. It is almost like they want to make Alabama fans look like dumbasses AND bait people into piling on.

See this thread as exhibit A. See any other Shaft thread as exhibit B.

Why would a white guy in Louisiana pretend to be a black Alabama fan?

It may not be a cultural fit for he and his family. Also, DeBoer may want to go to the NFL. I actually thought he'd be the one to go to the NFL and not Grubb.

You have zero evidence to support any of this. Washington was within about 10% of matching Bama’s offer. If Seattle was where he and his family wanted to be, he had 9 million reasons a year to stay there and a much less stressful job. He left a great situation to take on a near impossible task of replacing Saban. This wasn’t a Harsin story of taking a poor fit job to triple his salary.

And where has he ever indicated interest in the NFL? If he wanted that, staying at Washington was the far safer path than a risky move going to Alabama.

It’s peak boring offseason. The media creates clickbait storylines out of nothing this time of year. And there isn’t much to talk about at SEC media days this year so the conference needs to generate drama.

Nick Saban is 73 years old. He turns 74 in October. He is not coming back as head coach. You desperate 'bama fans need to just get over it.

What I was told last year:

DeBoer would provide a needed culture shift as Saban didn't now how to get these guys motivated now that they were making money.

Doesn't matter, Saban already proved the NIL era isn't successful for him.

Its NFL lite and he hates it and can't use his teaching methods to get the talent to stay.

Before NIL, you went to Bama to make your money in the first or second round. NIL even the playing field. They will just go elsewhere when he threatens to bench them for attitude.

So, he can come back, but it's not your Saban of old. Its your Dolphins Saban
