re: Best Burger in Baton Rouge?

Posted by rthomas628k on 3/8/25 at 4:30 pm
I’m in B/R for a few weeks. Was looking for a good burger place to try & bumped into TD’s debate via a 2023 post.

This type of information is where TD really shines. Both resourceful and informative.

I saw someone mention Judice Inn, which I recognized as a place in Lafayette. Maybe they had one in B/R as well. Whatever the case, I lived in Lafayette for 7-years or so, from 1977 to 1983. Personally, I was never impressed by Judice inn but understand how many others feel differently.

IMHO, hands down the best burger & fries I ever had anywhere were the ones from the Brass Rail in Lafayette during the timeframe mentioned above.

My 2 cents worth as for burgers in B/R (and other cities where these chains operate), I’m very impressed with:
*Walk-Ons;
*Twin Peaks;
* Most any Marriott owned facility where they serve food;
The Chimes (I think that’s the place by the golf course close to downtown, right!!!)
*Georges (which was the place under the bridge to my understanding)…….

Man, what I wouldn’t give for a late 70’s Rail Burger and those homemade fries!!!
The Portal was very instrumental in the formation of the 2019 Dream Team!!!
Man, all the hostility on W. Wade vs McMahon!

I kinda like to go with the “fan of LSU” vs. any 1 coach.

WW may be the better fundamentals coach, but he sure shite the bed on how he handled other aspects that go along with being a good BB coach!!! Such as: how to handle recruiting nuts & bolts while on your gott-damm cell phone. That’s all part of the job too. And there was no secret the NCAA was hot & heavy on the trail of the “handler” when WW was having his infamous phone conversations.

At the end of the day, I’ll go with the present coach. I didn’t like the Ed Orgeron hire. And still wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall when his agent asked for the obligatory contract clause: “If I win a National Championship, I want to be the highest paid coach in the SEC”! Don’t ya know the LSU reps were having hell not busting out in laughter!!! And the guy puts together the greatest college football team of all times. (In fact, our last 2 FB Natty’s were put together by 2 of the biggest boobs in the annals of NCAA football. But I’ll take em. And am thankful for the coaches that were at the helm when they occurred)!
Those old enough to remember the 1969 LSU season (& 1970 New Years Day bowl bids) would submit that poaching away ND’s coach is small retribution for what Norte Dame costs us that year.

Those not old enough to remember need to read up on it. And then run it by the butt-hurt ND fan blogs for commentary!!!

True. And even since 1981’s loss to Indiana, there’s been at least 3-4 others (and maybe more) where LSU BB team lost to ultimate National champions. 2 that come to mind would be Louisville in 1986 and N. Carolina in what, 2007/8! (The dreaded 8th seed awarded to ranked team who won the SEC regular season title, “BY A LOT”!!! Still pissed about that. And we were the only team to scare N/C in the tourney that year!)
It was a bad call on the part of the review personnel, very bad. The ref on the field; can’t hardly fault the guy too much on a bang-bang call that really is/was a call where 2 ref’s were needed in order to make a call at all.

That is to say, no way 1 ref can watch for components of a “catch”, while also watching feet for “in-bounds” component(s).

While it ended up being a clear INT with the benefit of replay, the call on the field was a toughy for the best 1 man/ref scenario.

So it was way—way short of falling in the “worst call ever” category. Not even on/in the list of top 500 worst calls IMHO!

Again, the video review folks, now that’s a different story. I knocked over a full box of Cheerios with my fist when they announced the decision of the review folks.

And consider, even before the shocking pick as the 1st running back taken in the 1st round, he was routinely graded ahead of Cam Akers.

I wasn’t an Ed O. hater by any means, but had my doubts. One of the most impressive statements he ever made concerned the Akers/Etiene debacle that wasn’t, where Coach O. had the humility to admit they played that situation wrong. But ended with the statement: “...however, I wouldn’t trade my group of running backs for any in the country...”, or somn such as that. The obvious emphasis being on CEH’s stellar season.

Phuc Akers and Etienne both.

CEH’s contribution to the magic that was LSU football 2019 can never be overstated. He’s an Emmitt Smith clone and then some.
“Honest Advertising”. = an oxymoron!
Well I gotta settlement check for $250,000.00 some time back with a good p/I lawya. The money was nice and all but it won’t bring my tooth back!!!

That was a skit from SNL back in the late 80’s/early 90’s. shite that was funny. Sad, but funny.
No offense but the Q almost smacks of racism, and Im a white dude!

Loved R. B. as much as the rest and the win against K. in Atlanta for the final four trip was special. But I can rattle off so many other guys who were superior BB players: I’d put Vernell up there ahead of R. B. , porn star or not!

Ethan Martin; Howard Carter; Nakita Wilson; Dewayne Scales; Rudy; Stromile; Big Baby. Not really sure why even the thought.
At about the 9:00 minutes left mark of 2nd half last Monday. I looked at my son and said “I think they’ve given up”! Talking about Clemson. I think we had the ball then.

But I was extremely worried at the 17-7 juncture and again at the 2nd half after they promptly held us; scored not only a convincing TD; but, the 2 point conversion as well!!!

Unbelievable; just unbelievable the team we had. And all that fell into place this year with damn near everything and everybody (getting Ingrahm back mid season and Divinity for the Ch. game. Not to say of CEH and #6 on offense!)

rump 2-0 at LSU games What a great Standing Ovation last night The crowd was loud

Phuc that idiot. His interjecting himself into the pregame stuff is so wrong on so many levels for obvious reasons. That he and 35% of the populous don’t understand that or just don’t care, is mind numbing.

That’s the kinda shite that goes on in North Korea; China; Sadam controlled Iraq; etc. Pure dictatorship like fiasco. Like his gott-dam military hardware parade. Pillaging money from the National Parks to do so. Just unbelievable. Give the child some LEGO’s or something.
Spot on man. Somebody with the know how an inroads to LSU football (and the university as a whole) should get this idea on the drawing board!!!
I’m gonna answer this around 11:00 pm Monday night.

Although I think this team is legendary in every respect, I think this opponent is equally as daunting. Even more so than the “2 Apple Bites” Bama team of 2011/12.

That’s the bigger question.and subplot by my way of thinking: “had this coaching staff been coaching vs Les Mikes in 2011/12, would the outcome been different”!!!

Excellent post and discussion. And very relevant to many of us.

Like another poster, gonna use the 2003 Arkansas game as a corollary.

I went with a group of people who had tickets but I didn’t. Figured I could find a loose one at stadium for reasonable $$$!

Found one, but it was not easy. Was just happy to get in.

As I told my friend's when we met back up after the game “...my seat was great for 2 reasons:

1. I never had to hear someone yell ‘down in front’ and

2. I had a nice back-rest, even more so than the chair-backed seats”!!!

Seat was top row on the visitors side upper deck And I’ve not the slightest regret.

The historical nature of the situation calls for an exception to normalcy.

My father went to Super Bowl III all by himself. That was probably the 1st one where a ticket was a hard find.

Anyone who says no to the question is weird!
Every accolade the guy gets is duly deserved. But the truth is, he’s likely the most easily replaceable coach on the staff. He can pass (a pun coming here) the offensive playbook off to an equally capable replacement with a damn jump-drive and a 45 minute chat at Starbucks.

What we don’t want is him getting in the hands of our opponents. That’s where his loss could prove meter moving. Kinda like the Germans or Japanese capturing a strategic military person in WWII who could both reveal the playbook and how to best defend it.

I’d much rather him go to the pros vs another college team.
Is he from Illinois (Illi-noise)!

Is it too late for us to cut him from the team! Slacker (and I realize we’re both just messin with the issue)

However, somewhat lost in the shuffle, is the quality of play by the wide receivers all year long in snagging balls that weren’t perfectly thrown. Usually underthown balls, but not always.
quote:

Yep Does that mean that he is not really good? How quickly we forget what a Jalen Hurts lead team did to LSU in Baton Rouge very recently

This all the more reason to play Oklahoma. We need to “slay this demon” just as we needed to beat Alabama (vs say, backing into a playoff spot or SEC Championship game by virtue of a tiebreaker scenario)

We need to put a smack down on a J. Hurts as we owe him some payback too!!!

He is the "Vernel Singleton" of LSU Football.

Good shout-out. Now, he just needs to don a Poki-Man band aide, or similar, on his ankle or somewhere to complete the transition.

(if you're too young to remember or know who Vernel was, he played on the Shaq and Chris Jackson BB teams.

I know this is off topic, but how in the hell do you have Shaq and Chris J. on the same team and not sniff a Final Four!!!)
