Saban took the LSU job without ever visiting LSU or Baton Rouge. He sent Mrs Terry since he couldn’t make time to go. When he arrived and was driven the first time from the airport and saw what he had committed to, he had second thoughts and called Mrs Terry right before his press conference and told her he wanted to back out. She talked him into staying.

The Kiffin segment highlights how much Saban disliked him. It is no secret that Saban fired him. I never realized how bad the situation was. Saban tries to say some nice things but he and the other coaches mainly speak of how irresponsible Kiffin was.

Saban didn't retire to LA for a reason.

Yet has said multiple times he should have never left. Not hard to google. The reason he wanted to back out was because of how much pressure there was. He even commented of the amount of people at the press conference.

Ms. Terry, the MVP of Saban’s career, tbh. If he doesn’t go to LSU when he did, then he doesn’t go to NFL when he did, or wind up at Bama when he did.

I remember when Kiffin was crucified for doing the same thing.

It's well known LSU was a mess and underfunded before Saban brought the program to life. We were the first program to build a football operations center because of Saban and one of the first student athlete academic centers. This is not a revelation.

And now they're friends. Lane is obviously at the very least much less of a shithead he was. What exactly is the point of the thread? This board has day and night shifts talking about and researching LSU athletics. this is nothing they haven't discussed ad nauseam,.

The documentary stated just the opposite, that LSU was probably the only major program without one when he arrived. Saban had it built after he arrived.

That's why I said we were the first do build those facilities because of Nick Saban?

eta: the ops center was the first of its kind. I am sure other schools had a student athlete academic center

This is LSU fans reading into what he said.

He was talking about leaving college football in general for the NFL, not LSU specifically.

He never had a buyout at Alabama. He was free to leave at any point in his career and it would have cost teams $0 to get him. He could have at any point went back to LSU, but he never did.

Bama would have found a way to bring him home.

He's said multiple times leaving LSU was his critical mistake. He could have accomplished what he did at Alabama at LSU.

Just take your victory and 6 natties. Be grateful the Dolphins convinced him to leave.

Because he knew the college game was where he belonged, not because Baton Rouge was some mecca he regretted leaving behind.

Maybe, maybe not. If he stayed at Mich State maybe he takes the Bama job instead of Fran or Shula.

Either way, he still would have been Saban no matter which major program he settled at. He would have ended up dominating at some other program
