He's said multiple times leaving LSU was his critical mistake. He could have accomplished what he did at Alabama at LSU.

Just take your victory and 6 natties. Be grateful the Dolphins convinced him to leave.

Except he didn't. He was talking about leaving college football. It had nothing to do with LSU or Alabama directly.

And saying the dolphins convinced him to leave is just more of your fantasy narrative.

You stop reading at the LSU quote.

Everyone else reads this and realizes he's talking about college football itself and LSU was just the last college team he coached at before heading to the NFL.

quote:

But I found out in that experience that I like coaching in college better because you could develop players — personally, academically, athletically and all that — a little more than in pro ball."

this story has been recapped countless times. I don't have to live in a fantasy because it's based on fact anyway. Not that this conversation has a point anyway, because he left and ended up at Alabama and owned LSU. Are these theories yall conjure up now that Alabama has fallen back?

not because Baton Rouge was some mecca he regretted leaving behind.

Baton Rouge has nothing to do with it. Tuscaloosa is a nicer Shreveport, so congrats. He made the job elite and really had zero reason to leave besides his NFL aspirations. I had no idea this is a subject Alabama fans have sat around and actually created a false narrative over but knock yourself out I guess

Miami fans wouldn't have been upset he left if that was the case. It's part of the fantasy LSU fans have come with over the years to cope.

As for Alabama fallen back - I've watched Alabama win 9 national championships and LSU has never been anything. Before Saban you were an easy win most often listened to on the radio while dove hunting, and after Saban you a now just a more hyped up easy win.

He also said he would have gladly gone back to LSU if had been an option. Also firing Kiffin cost Alabama a natty. He’d have 7 legitimate Championships (Covid doesn’t count) if he’d have waited a week. That was his Malcolm Butler moment.

Says the fan base with a fantasyland story about how if Saban never left LSU, Alabama was going to walk in and pluck him from the program. This is completely subjective and have no idea why you retards actually sit around and discuss this

What are you even talking about? Top to bottom LSU's athletic department is stout, having won twice as many national championships. We've seen three national titles in football and baseball in the 21st century, and we have the same aount of final fours this century too. But I too can just make shite up

LSU is the only fan base that continuously states this and it is one of the many reasons teams even outside the SEC enjoy seeing LSU fail.

Nobody said this, nor does anyone have a reason to say this.

This is a discussion about football. Nobody gives a frick about baseball.

We're the fourth winningest program over the last 25 years and only Alabama has won more national titles this century. Even if we strictly talked about football your statement is beyond retarded

Correct. And neither does LSU. And I'm not naive enough to think that Saban came to Tuscaloosa because he regarded it as some cultural center of excellence. He came because the job was open, the facilities were there, and the money was good.

if this is the case, then why are Alabama fans creating a revisionist history about Saban's regrets about leaving LSU? No one is saying he prefers LSU or Alabama. The point is that he regrets leaving LSU but obviously loved his time at Alabama and is an Alabama guy now. What exactly else is there to say?

I wouldn’t think leaving to go pro and then Bama to win 6 to be anybody’s critical mistake.

LSU actually does because he created a top 5 program at the time he was here. He left Les Miles so much talent the dumbass fell into 11-2 seasons. It's bizarre Alabama fans seem bothered he has fond memories of LSU. Believe me. We ar grateful for what Saban did but everyone knows he is remembered as an Alabama legend, not an LSU one. So I have no idea what this discourse is about.

Saban took the LSU job without ever visiting LSU or Baton Rouge. He sent Mrs Terry since he couldn’t make time to go. When he arrived and was driven the first time from the airport and saw what he had committed to, he had second thoughts and called Mrs Terry right before his press conference and told her he wanted to back out. She talked him into staying.

My wife always tells me things would be a lot easier if I just listened to her.

In Nick's case, his wife is absolutely right to think or say that.

I'm just telling you what my view of LSU has been for the past 50 years.

I have nothing against LSU, I lived in Louisana a few years when I was a kid so I actually pull for you guys more than most. But you live in a fantasy world.
