if this is the case, then why are Alabama fans creating a revisionist history about Saban's regrets about leaving LSU? No one is saying he prefers LSU or Alabama. The point is that he regrets leaving LSU but obviously loved his time at Alabama and is an Alabama guy now. What exactly else is there to say?
He clarified what he missed in the same article you linked. It wasn't specifically LSU, it was the player development and other parts of college football.
It was college football he missed.
It has nothing to do with LSU and it has nothing to do with Alabama. If he had gone to Ole Miss before the NFL and LSU after, he would have said Ole Miss was the biggest mistake. Because it had nothing to do with the schools involved.
I'm not sure how else to explain it. You just want to make it about LSU and I doubt there is anything anyone can say that will allow you to believe otherwise.

I think its clear he meant leaving college in general. He has never explicitly said that LSU was better than bama. And never will.

At that time in his career he never faced pressure like that. It was a bigger job than Michigan State was all he was saying.

Little Nicky setup Lane up to fail at LSU you can't make it up.. That is what really happening.

Saban is the one who told Kiffin to take the LSU job. I'm pretty sure they are ok. Saban knows that he made a mistake when he left LSU.
