Here we go again. Lil coach crybaby didnt win the NC...such a tool of a coach that has to give excuses every year he doesn't win with his 3 deep roster of 5 stars. There are high school coaches with more character and integrity in their left pinky finger than this douche

The other thread wasn’t good enough for you to cry in?

Saban has a point. We saw those 5 players play in the SEC Championship Game and beat Georgia 41-24.

Sounds like coach did a puss poor job preparing his team

Meanwhile Georgia had 3 true freshmen score the last 3 TDs on Saban's defense in the title game. And we won with our backup QB, backup DBs, backup WRs and a couple of backup OL.
Saban should coach up his entire team better, imo. Kirby clearly out-coached him in the game that mattered most.

If you read that as him making excuses..well..you're retarded. But hey,you do you

He is literally talking to high school coaches about the importance of always doing your best to have everybody on your roster locked in and motivated to get better and be focused, because you never know when their number will be called. And he then gives an example of this year, in which we had guys numbers called and they weren't ready. And it cost us.
Good lawd.
Good lawd.

Making excuses? Did you actually read the article or just….oh never mind, you wouldn’t get it anyway.

Well, actually having read the article, he appears to put all of the blame on his players:
quote:
They never made themselves the best player they could be. And when they got the opportunity, they couldn’t do it.
They they they.
How about the Head Coach who is paid millions to make sure 'they' are ready. How about this: "It is my responsibility as Head Coach to prepare my players to be the best players they can be. And when they got their opportunity, it is clear they weren't properly prepared. That's on me and my staff."
Instead, Saban puts it all on his players. Actually does seem pretty sh*tty, to be honest.

The guy is giving a tactical talk to a bunch of high school coaches. He's not giving a post-game analysis of the game.
And to be frank, he's more than earned the right to be like "Hey, my methods work. If you don't buy in, it's probably your fault". And therefore he's explaining to high school coaches the real world situation and how it can capsize your team in the biggest moments.
And every high school coach in that room is damn glad to have heard that sort of real talk from the greatest college football coach of all time, too.

We had the kind of team where we had a really good QB…
No shite?
You have 4 & 5 stars at every starting position and siting on the bench. Saban only has himself to blame if he has difficulty motivating his kids

“We lost the national championship because basically we had three corners out -- both starters and the best backup,” he said. “So we were playing with some guys that didn’t have a lot of experience, and it eventually got us in the fourth quarter.”
This definitely sounds like an excuse…

It’s the entire final paragraph of the article. Is there something else he said that makes it not an excuse? If so, can you post that part?

Saban is the GOAT college football coach, no question. But that doesn't mean he can't be questioned. And it appears the tactic he taught those high school coaches is to blame the players.
Using your example, it's like he's saying "Hey, my methods work, so if they ever don't work, it's not my fault."
He's ducking blame and he really can't. If his players didn't buy in, it's his fault. If the players did buy in, then they still failed and his methods weren't good enough and it's his fault.
It's also possible he was beaten by a better team. Period. But that can't be it, because Saban is the GOAT coach and GOAT recruiter, so ... yep, it's the players.
He should take responsibility for it, imo, and vow to do better next time.

It's literally the first part of the article.

He can do whatever the fvck he wants, and he's exactly right about multiple wide receivers who openly and publicly bitched all season about PT and then shite themselves when they were given the opportunity they made it sound like they wanted. One of them literally dropped a touchdown pass. He also openly talked and tweeted about how he should be playing more. It wasn't a secret. The whole damn world knew about it. He then got a shot and he absolutely failed.
15 other seasons he's had young players who did none of that. They worked their arse off. They stayed ready. They performed when their number was called on the biggest stage.
I got no issues with it. The man knows exactly what he's doing and what he's talking about.

When you start a sentence this way it will appear to your teams fans as an “explanation” and to opposing fans as an excuse. The truth is that there is no difference in an explanation and an excuse in such situations.
