You'd better hope he wins another NC this year. If he doesn't, this year is just going to piss him off and he'll be back with a vengeance next year. He hates to lose. That's what drives him.

Who's left to fill that lofty position?

Not directed at you, OP, but just a question.
LSU fans trot out Les Miles for winning a national championship post-Saban, despite their claim that he was generally incompetent. Ed is now receiving a similar treatment.
Just out of curiosity, how is it that Alabama is expected to drop like a rock post-Saban, when LSU did not?
Don't ask me. I'm just telling you word on the street....

And all the good coaches are gone except for coach O.

I have actually heard this and just heard Birmingham sports talk radio speaking on Cristobal possibly taking over at Bama once Saban does.
You'd love this. Every year after winning a big game, Cristobal manages to shite the bed against teams the equivalent of South Carolina and Vandy.

Youre not, we just hope you start hiring mikes again.

I actually feel pretty good about the current AD (who hired Nate Oats).
If he also leaves and everything gets cattywampus, I definitely would have a concern about another potential Mike.

When has Saban not had an elite group of players coming back? He'll coach until he's in a wheelchair if he's waiting for a rebuilding year
This year, total reloading year. Next year's team is going to be a all timer. Like best team ever good.

I don't expect Bama to drop like a rock. They should always be a contender and power house. It will just be entertaining watching the Bama fan base, who is used to Saban results, go from that to anything less. No one can replicate what Saban has done and at this point, y'all are used to being a NC every other year on average. Even if that drops to once every 4 years, the gaps in between should be pretty funny.

The GOAT may retire soon, but not until he names his successor and that deal is done in stone.

I think for the first in his history, Saban has two weak/average coordinators. He is going to have to replace one or both to get back to that level of domination. I fully expect him to address at least one and it would surprise me to see Bama be as inconsistent again next year as they were in 2021.

They sure weren't contending when Saban got there. You talk about a group that was desperate and shoving money around!

This is fair, although there were a handful previously with their foot halfway out the door (Josh Gattis comes to mind).
I think this year it's the perfect storm of a rebuilding year and new coordinators.
In the past they've somehow been able to overcome it. Doesn't seem to be the case so far this year.**
**I'll add that I'm not disappointed with an 11-1 season, just in case Nick is reading this.

When you guys were dogshit for 59 minutes before driving 9000 miles to send the iron bowl into overtime, I announced to everyone in the living room that Ala fricking Bama is going to win the gotdamm CFP again. I was also kinda drunk.
Now totally sober, I feel that Ala fricking Bama might just win the gotdamm CFP again. The key is UGA. I cant see you guys beating them twice, but take care of business in Atlanta, and if UGA loses their semi, no other team left will beat Saban with a month to prepare.
