The LSU situation has apparently moved beyond the “penalty” discussion.

Word is the other 15 schools have started discussing whether LSU has become a fundamental enough problem that the conference should consider terminating its membership rather than continuing to fight over eligibility rules.

The interesting part is apparently the voting math.

If this gets formally put on the table, the question isn't whether LSU gets punished. It's whether there are enough votes to remove them from the conference altogether.

I've also heard that the schools aren't necessarily united on how to handle it, which is why nobody is willing to put their name on anything publicly yet.

Could be nothing.

The interesting question now is whether this gets pushed to the Presidents & Chancellors level. If it does, LSU may have a much bigger problem than a sanctions committee.

It absolutely is. I just don't believe the SEC is even considering kicking LSU out of the conference. It's pretty ridiculous.

I doubt it comes to this. But I would think this would require a super majority vote. Not sure if that would 60% (10 votes), 66% (11 Votes) or 75% (12 votes).

If they are mentioning it in public, it is ABSOLUTELY being discussed in private.

Yeah well Georgia is pretty fired up.

It does signal they know the judge, being friendly with LSU, will most likely rule for the players. Depends on what the ruling is.

As if there is a feeling that termination is the easier route to make its legal case to enforce its own conference rules, as compared to simply imposing penalties for violating rules…Maybe that could hasten a federal lawsuit…

Probably would vote change the bylaws to define that number better if necessary.

this is the dumbest of all dumb talking points.

"People are saying", lol.

Nobody is saying anything. Nobody is doing to vote LSU out of the conference for playing a a player that is allowed to play. LSU is only going to play them once the SEC gives him the ok.
