So did I and this is simply not true...If Bama fans crowded out AU fans, that is on ya'll for not supporting your team....
Fact is Dye wanted a competitive advantage and playing at a neutral site and Legion wasn't competitive in his view.....

You are incorrect, the whole 50/50 was a myth. The city got a ton of tickets, Bham has always been a Bama town, hence no way it was split down the middle, more like 60/40 at best.

Oh please....this is simply a myth.....if Bama outdrew AU that is on AU fans. You guys act like there was a fix in to job you out of your allotment. Nonsense
Fact of the matter is Dye didn't want to play there because he wanted to gain an advantage by having the game in AU...and with recruiting. He was on the record about his reasons....can't fault him for it really as he was fighting for what was best for AU. Birmingham losing the Iron Bowl was on the City of Birmingham and that cuck Joab Thomas and Curry

It supposedly wasn't "fair" to Auburn.

Sorry dude. It was never 50/50. Honestly, it was never even close. If you said 60/40 or 70/30, I'd believe you.

You have a team in Tuscaloosa. They seem to be doing OK. Why does the University of Alabama system need another one?
In 10 years it won't be a part of the system.

Sorry. Never playing on a so called neutral field again. Play us in Auburn or at your own shitty campus.

Would be great for the state too.
Yeah because the state of Alabama has done so much for us. Despite being visitors in our own godforsaken state, we still keep comin'. We never quit and we never will. Fighting the fat cat establishment and stickin' it to the man. "I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work."
So frick you frickin' fricks. And frick the state of Alabama. We're gonna give you hell on Saturday regardless of the score. May your soul rot in hell and may we be there to piss on you when you die.

It's not a myth and it's not a conspiracy theory. The city of Birmingham got an allotment of tickets, they gave them to people in Birmingham which is overwhelmingly a bama city. Its just numbers. And you are correct, Dye saw a competitive advantage moving the game to Auburn. Also, JHS had the highest capacity in the State in 89.

If I recall the tiebreaker from the 50/50 split that gave Alabama more tickets was the substantial ticket allotment given to the City of Birmingham, or the Rotary Club or something, which was overwhelmingly consisted of Alabama alums.
Does that sound correct?

How many? Unless we are talking 10k+, it's not enough to substantiate this excuse

The 50/50 split was what made the iron bowl so special.
Something died when it ended. Thanks Pat.

OK, I can see your point, it would take several thousand tickets to make a difference.
Y'all played at Legion Field a lot, not just against Auburn, kind of like Texas did at the Cotton Bowl (sometimes up to three times a year -- Oklahoma, SMU, bowl game).
But then again, I think Auburn played games at Legion Field, other than against Alabama. Forgive me for intruding on your thread as an outsider, I just find this discussion interesting.

Many of us remember the games at Legion Field. It would be nice to play there for nostalgic reasons, but lets face reality - it's a shithole.
My last visit to Legion Field was to see Pink Floyd in 1994 (sans Roger Waters of course - but the show didn't suffer a bit)
Best show I ever saw - front row! Worst venue ever.
Even then it was a ghetto area. Now? I'm not sure I'd go back for a Floyd reunion tour.
Legion Field is now just a shitty, shitty stadium in an even more shitty area of Birmingham.
No thanks.

Notice how the only people that think it was split 50/50 and was actually a neutral field are Bama fans and that Alabama fans are also the only ones who wouldn't want the game played there again.
The fact that there's controversy about it from the people who attended the games there should tell you it wasn't really 50/50

Yeah, I read a story from the Columbus, Ga., newspaper from the time it went home-and-home in 1989 that mentioned that all the ushers wore crimson and white outfits.
The Texas-Oklahoma game at the Cotton Bowl for a long, long time only featured Texas flags around the stadium perimeter. For a brief while in the early 2000s, they started alternating Texas and Oklahoma flags. That did not last long.

There were 5K Birmingham Only tickets. The rest were split 50/50.
