re: Gus Malzahn

I like the way CGM uses the hurry up when he's got a defense on his heels, it's a thing of beauty.

I'll be one of the first AU fans to criticize this offense because I understand how personal reliant Gus has become. 2013 was one of the most entertaining offenses ive ever watched, just remembering Nick Marshall picking apart those bammer defenses with his arm and legs would probably get me stuck in some loop of trying to repeat it too if I were a coach.

If he's going to stick with this "style" of offense he's gotta get some sort of out of house innovation to help him when he doesn't have the zone read.

I was almost starting to think Rhett was the missing key but after a few games he only turned out to be a little less predictable than Gus.

One of my biggest questions is wtf do high school QBs think of this offensive staff?
They're like so if I go there, I'll either set a bunch of records and go to a national championship or be terrible and hated ????

I find it strange how Alabama media is so happy about Kiffin moving on. Dude has fielded multiple heisman contenders, a winner and national championship caliber offenses every year.

Them boys trying to hide something
I have the same sort of connection. I grew up in a "football family" but excelled at basketball. A group of my AAU team, including myself, would go to Duke every summer and participate in their team camps. I got to play against/with a bunch of Duke/NBA players from Duke and got coaching from their entire staff (Coach K would hold an hour to two hour long lecture with the entire camp every night where he focused on something else for a 5 day period, assistant coaches, one of which is now a head coach at a pretty big school, did hands on with us in groups of 5-7) it was a cool experience and I went for three years in a row.
While Im attending school somewhere that isn't auburn, a school not big on sports, my family all went there and multiple people in my family were professors and faculty members at auburn for a majority of their professional careers. I've been going to auburn games for as long as I can remember and following the teams on forums and what not since I was a kid.
So while I don't have a degree from either of the schools I'll root for, I'll root for auburn over anyone and I like to see Duke do well in basketball just from a nostalgic standpoint. In a tournament standpoint it would still be a little hard for me to root for Duke over any SEC team and vise versa.

I also think tOSU could slip up to Clemson. I see at least one big game for Deshaun in the playoffs.
Bama vs tOSU I'd have to go with Bama even though I'd rather them lose this year.
Good thing not all fans blindly rage at rankings, wow at this thread

Keep the bowls coming. Make it so that if there's losing teams they play each other at legion field or somewhere of the sort.
Still gives teams more practice, lets them travel and play a different opponent, motivates them to get somewhere less shitty, gives me more football to watch

The OU defense is ranked 91...91. WE are ranked 71, for fricking real.

You won't have a problem scoring. They also have faced exactly two top 50 defenses all year and lost both games.

Auburn should seriously show up for that game and should destroy OU assuming most of your minor injuries heal up by then.

This is what I've been saying. Against OK, we will represent the SEC well.
We won't have to worry about passing too much as we will be able to run the ball down their throats with Pettway and KJ being healthier.
Our defense will be so much better than anything they've seen in a while, possibly all year. We will likely be able to create a few turnovers or get enough negative plays where we'd get some easy points.

Gonna have to rename it Tubberville-Johnson stadium after JJs done tonight
The hire makes sense to me.
Let coach o have a go at it, if he provides the same love to the university as well as passion to player relations and recruiting that les did but allows his offensive and defensive coaches to do as they wish/need to LSU could be in a very good position.
You give him the title of head coach (instead of interim) so he can't be negatively recruited against. If he's not working out, it's easy to can him and then you've had a whole extra year of looking for the right choice.
This is assuming they don't tie him into a 5 year $6 trillion dollar buyout
Read a few posts above you, auburn has finished top 25 (21) times since Bryant to Alabama's 22. Just goes to show how even this series has been in most's memory.
So by your logic, Bama is either really bad or really good too.
It's too easy to tell with Bama fans when they act like Bama has never done anything but dominate auburn. Where you watching the series pre 2008? I'm sure you were

Notice how the only people that think it was split 50/50 and was actually a neutral field are Bama fans and that Alabama fans are also the only ones who wouldn't want the game played there again.
The fact that there's controversy about it from the people who attended the games there should tell you it wasn't really 50/50

OP implies he remembers legion field
OP says he wants to go back
?
Even though Gus and company have recruited well, the team takes a massive hit every time we get an injury.
Last year and the defense with Lawson
This years offense with Pettway.
the question to me seems to be we are not delivering against top defenses. There's always a reason: injuries, inconsistencies at QB but I want to see if Gus can put up big numbers against Bama with a healthy team. I don't want there to be an excuse like "well we didn't have Kam/Sean." Even though that's looking doubtful now

Who would be the most overrated team?

I guess Missouri
6-8 teams will allow non power 5 teams to get some chances. I would have enjoyed seeing a team like Houston in the playoffs last year. And six teams, giving the first two a bye gives more incentive to do well. Also, by allowing more "mid-major" teams to have a chance, it will make the season more fun by making more games meaningful due to playoff implications likely spreading to other conferences.
It's a rough life man. I wanna enjoy the off seasons but if I am enjoying them I feel like auburns gonna have a bad year. So I guess I should start enjoying the bad ones were we lose talent left and right and make strange unproven hires. Oh well
