Chizik and Saban would make an awesome interrogation team. That be one helluva Good cop/ Bad cop routine.

You may be right. I could see where his style would appeal to the already driven and confident athlete that is totally focused on the NFL and just wants a no nonsense coach to get them there. I think parents like Saban's style in the living room too because its so different from what they are used to seeing.
"We'll win with you or without you."
Julio was gonna be a first rounder no matter where he went. However, he obviously liked the pitch.

The position coach thing stood out as well. Any kid going to a school because of a position coach is stupid though.

No doubt. Saban would have them scared of the electric chair and then Chizik could come in for prayer.

Yes and no, position coaches are more apt to leave sooner than the HC, but you spend way more time with your position coach than the HC, like 10-1. And some places like Bama, you dont really get a free chance to talk one on one with your HC

I think this is true, but it's the schools with the paths of least resistance they're interested in.

Chizik uses this approach for recruiting, but I can tell you for a fact he will get after players once they are in school. Sure he doesn't spanking players on national tv, but he isn't this soft spoken saint that I've heard so many people talk about.

I could see Chizik being a hard-arse about discipline. He comes from a millitary upbringing, makes sense that he'd be pretty damn stern and straight-forward to a player that runs astray of the rules.
Chizik appears to be a nonsense type of guy. I like that about him.

The comment bout the 5 star players liking Saban is inaccurate, at least going by what Corey Webster, Mike Clayton, et al, had to say bout him during their careers. They said that the players Saban put in the pros respected him for getting them to that level, but noted 2 things as well: That mite mean 5-6-7 players. The other 85 or so come to hate him. Also, respecting him or not, they can only take him for 4 yrs. When questioned at the Senior Bowl, after Saban took the Miami job, if he wanted to be drafted by Saban, Webster was quoted in the paper as "not no but hell no".
The other comment in that link was heads on: he never smiles. Great coach, a douchbag as a person.

Yep.
With the current competitive environment of SEC football, a coach just doesn't have time to put up with bullshite from a head-case that acts like a dang idiot.

Of all the head coaches you've spoken with, who was the easiest to talk to?
Gene Chizik, Auburn: 8 votes
Imagine how bad he would dominate if he took his dentures along on visits.

Yes, you are.

And Saban is STILL funneling players to the NFL.

A few year's back when Saban was at LSU, he was at this recruiting function. He was signing stuff and I said Coach Saban I recently met your niece. I interviewed her for a residency position. He looks up and says "she's getting in right ?" She chose to stay closer to home but the point was he does have a way with words. lol

Sure. I think most Bama fans would admit that. Saban's style promotes the most talented and hardest working to glory and leaves the rest praying to keep their spot on the roster. It's pure dog eat dog and he makes no apologies for it. Alabama football is an NFL bootcamp from hell. But the absolute best love him for pushing them so hard and that is why the best recruits want to play for him. Because they all think they will be in that group of 8 or so in each class that go pro.
