Mmm... he could do well there but Ole Miss did not have a problem with their offense. We will see how they do but Rich Rod might be getting a bit long in the tooth for this job.

Not being able to score against SEC teams and not being able to score from inside the 20 are problems.

Did you watch us play in any other SEC game than the Arkansas game?

Longo was a good temporary fix but his system wasn’t set up for long term success in the SEC. Beating up on non conference opponents is nice, but you can’t muster up only 10 points against Bama in 2 years after we put up 66 points on the Tide with comparable offenses between 2014 and 2015. He’ll we put up 43 against them in 2016 with a worse offense.

Didn’t he leave AZ under some shady circumstances (allegations of sexual assault or not reporting assault or something)?

Yes, very creepy allegations

Could be a really good hire. I like it. My main concern is that his system resembles Gus ball more than Freeze ball. He'll need to return to innovating if he's to survive in the SEC. But he had a pretty good track record of doing so for many years.

It takes some stones to hire two Coordinators that are more qualified for Luke's job than he is.

I'll give him credit for that.

If they were more qualified they'd be a head coach somewhere. Having had the job doesn't mean they'd do better at it. A good head coach is a CEO type, like Saban. Set the tone, set the standard, let the brain trust perfect the product, so pretty much the opposite of Gus.

So who are the Bears pulling for to replace Luke?
Rich Rod or McIntyre (sp) ?

And the Bears in this thread are right, their offense against SEC folks was laughable this year. They grossly under-performed given how much talent they had. I'm pretty sure one or more State WRs had more TDs against SEC competition than AJ Brown did (as an example).

I think it's a matter of semantics, really. RichRod definitely has a much better resume than Matt Luke, so his qualifications are superior if we're talking HR looking for the best-qualified candidate. He was great at WVU, mediocre at Michigan (though they really didn't give him much time to develop the program) and average at Arizona. Matt Luke has been mediocre at best as an HC. Now, if you're arguing that RR shouldn't be an HC period anymore, that would be a legitimate argument to explore. But, then, I have my doubts about Luke too. He came into a bad situation, but that doesn't change the fact that there's no evidence that he's any good yet.
