South Carolina finished in a 6 way tie for 4th in the SEC
Still beat the ACC champ though

And LSU will shite the bed against Clemson to begin the season.

Says a guy who lost his playoff game 38-10. OM, South Carolina or several other SEC schools would have given Penn State a better game, maybe won.

A really dumb take
How many other conferences have had 6 NC teams since 1964?

I love when these coaches from other conferences stand behind a podium and try to minimize how good the SEC is and has been. They sound so idiotic trying to make their case all the while the SEC year after year continues to put more players in the NFL than any other conference. I get they have to promote their conference, but don't make an idiot out of yourself doing it, Rhett.

What other conferences have the national success and a greater diversity of champions?
He also needs to mention all 6 of those schools have won NATIONAL championships in the BCS era onward.
Tennessee
Auburn
Alabama
Florida
LSU
Georgia.
And 4 of those schools have multiple titles in that time frame.
Big Ten has Michigan with 1 and Ohio State with 3.
Big XII has 2 with Oklahoma and Texas having 1 each. Both schools are now in the SEC so add that on however you like.
PAC 12 had USC win 1.
ACC has had 4 with FSU and Clemson both winning 2. Miami won in 2001 as a member of the big east.
It’s insane to say the SEC is top heavy and the rest aren’t. Yeah maybe the other conferences have had a team sneak in and win a conference championship every now and then but the success ends there.
Insane quote from him with even a little digging.

The Landscape of college football has completely changed since 1964. You can't really make that comparison going that far back.
If conference championships are what you are going by and you are going to go that far back, then you have to take into account ALL conference championships won by those schools regardless of conference which makes his point mute.

The SEC has a winning record against every conference, current and former, in college football.
The conference is top heavy to a degree. But, it is the deepest in the country by far in terms of talent and ability to create upsets on any given Saturday.

8 out of original 10 would dismiss his argument.

I thought so too until I looked it up. Since 1964, the only 6 teams to win the SEC are Bama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, LSU, and Auburn.

Rhett is correct. 8 of the current 16 SEC teams have won a combined 17 national championships over the last 27 seasons. That's not depth, that's OWNERSHIP!!

He should schedule two OOC games against SEC opponents annually to prove his point. See how that works out for SMU.

He’s obviously well aware of the Big 6.

well considering from 1964-1991 that would represent 60% of the league, and from 1992-2012 it'd be half the league, I'd say that's not "top heavy" at all. Like, extremely far from it actually.

6 is pretty good imo.
bama
uga
tenn
lsu
aubbie
florida
Then you add texas and ou so it's really 8. then you have schools like arkansas, ole miss, ags that easily can get easily push to win the conference at times.
I think ags have the resources to win a natty as well if they would stop doing all their werido stuff.

Pretty sure I watched my Dawgs open the season with a 34-3 over the ACC champ last year.
