Don't forget the part about ruining the "whistleblower" by using his own racist words against him and getting him kicked off his new team.

They have as long of a history of it as AU. It's nothing new.

How would tRant feel if A&M and Mizzou were replaced by Tulane and Tech? Two original members would be back in, and we can see the battle for the Tiger Rag every year.
I'd love it, and frankly, it'd be a wash overall.

Most ranters weren't alive when "traditional" schools like Tech and Tulane were in
They'd become the new "new guys"
They'd become the new "new guys"

I'd be cool with it. Its kinda embarrassing being associated with ignorant and backwards southerners if I'm just being honest

There would be blood in Bourbon St. after every LSU vs. Tulane game. Would be awesome.

It's a shame that Tulane de-emphasized football back in the day. Georgia Tech, too. A couple of true southern rivalries that were enjoyable to experience passed on.

Wrote Ginn: “The years that followed as an independent were mostly lean ones. From 1964 to 1982, Georgia Tech’s football record was 104-100-5. Compare that to Tech’s … record of 206-110-12 from 1933 to 1963. As an independent, Georgia Tech saw its facilities become worn and outdated, surpassed in size and quality by most of its Southern competitors.”

One consequence of Tech’s SEC exit that Curry will concede involves Atlanta itself. He grew up in College Park rooting for the Bulldogs, his father having been a Georgia graduate. In Curry’s mind, the city was split almost 50-50 between Jackets and Bulldogs in the early ’60s, but this remained an SEC town even without an SEC team. By leaving the conference, Tech ceded Atlanta to Georgia.
quote:
Wrote Ginn: “Arguably, the level of national prestige that Tech football enjoyed as a member in the SEC has never returned. … In 1963, the enrollment at Georgia Tech was about 6,300 students, and there were roughly 50,000 living alumni. In 2011, the enrollment at Georgia Tech (was) more than 20,000, and there (were) more than 120,000 living alumni. Atlanta’s metro population more than tripled. Yet Georgia Tech’s average football attendance for 2010 was less than in 1963.”
Pretty good article about GT leaving the SEC.

Mizzou to the Big-10
If they gave us a full membership day one, everyone would take that. Plus we could get outta the mac in wrestling and compete. Much easier path to the b1g champ game too.

It would be great to replace TAM and Mizzou, but not with Tulane and Tech. How about dumping those two and not replacing them at all? In other words, go back to to 12 teams.

I like both A&M and Missouri. They bring a lot to the table as well as some nice TV markets, i.e., money. I hope and believe both will stay.
Each have better football histories than most SEC fans realize. Missouri probably does more with their talent, at least as far as rankings go, than any other program in the SEC except Alabama. Shocking to even most of their own fans, historically their football program is top 30 or so. They gave Bama 2 of the worst losses of Coach Bryant's career in 68 and 75. Both worse than the lopsided scores. They do need to ramp up their football atmosphere a bit. Hopefully, they can get their basketball program back to their norm.
A&M has one of the most well rounded athletic programs in the country. Historically their football program is top 25. Their academics are good too.
Arkansas' football history is underrated too - top 20-25. Their track program has been historically great. Good basketball and baseball. USC's football history is at least partially made up for with one of the most loyal fanbases in the country in the face of their lack of success. And that was before they entered the SEC. We feel for you - though not quite like Vandy. Of course they've had success in other sports.

Georgia Tech has less football history than even the worst SEC schools despite winning a title in 1990. That title makes ‘84 BYU look legit. Tulane is an embarrassment to athletics. I’m glad that Mizzou is in the SEC because of the tradition and passion of SEC fans, but if Mizzou joined the B1G their only completion in the West would be 450 pound Wisconsin lineman addicted to cheese.
