It will take Congress passing legislation. Congress can also reign in NIL somewhat, place limitations for minors under the age of 21.

It’s been this way. Now it’s above the table instead of below.

This is such a lazy take. It was never like this. Keeping it under the table helped regulate the market so it never got this out of control.

Not to mention Underwood never set foot on Michigan’s campus after committing to LSU 300+ days ago.

shite on BK all you want (I don’t like him either), but this has nothing to do with LSU’s failed season as Michigan is 5-5 and facing sanctions.

Pure money grab and I’m sure the Underwood’s could have gotten more had they refused the 12 million.

I don’t blame them either. I’m taking the money when it gets that absurd.

This needs to be reigned in. It costs too much money for fans to support thrir school on gameday to settle for this mercenary garbage. It’s funny to laugh at other schools until it’s your own that gets the shaft.

I can see why Saban noped out of this shite.

I agree and its only gonna rake a flop or two at 10m + for donors to question how their money is being wasted

Lets not forget that Aggys paid for the Trans Am that Eric Dickerson drove to SMU

The kind of people who pay into these things are the same power-hungry boosters that have always existed at every program.

If you’re a competitive program in any form or fashion, there is always the belief that championship success is right around the corner.

I mean, Auburn is struggling like hell the past 7 years, and we’re still selling out season tickets, paying for expensive coaching staffs, upgrading facilities, and funding one of the highest NIL accounts in the country.

So I don’t think busts will curtail anything. People will persistently throw excess money at athletes forever.

Congress isn't going to be able to do anything to limit the amount of money these players are getting. The second they try a lawsuit is getting filed immediately and the court is going to side with the players. Contracts are going to be the only possible thing to potentially limit these players options.

If they at least capped it (but still at a reasonably high number), the top prospects would still get paid a ton and be free to choose the school they really wanted if that school could offer the max.

We quickly went from feeling bad for dirt poor players struggling through college to college parking lots full of lambos.

Geez, cap it at $5M max even, which is a ton of money for anyone but at least something to keep it from turning ridiculous which it is now and will get worse.

They pay that kid $10.5M and every team that plays them will have a "bounty" on who can take out the head of the snake.

Guarantee it.

12 million. They turned down Michigan’s 10.5 offer

Something along those lines makes the most sense, if they were to act at all.

Counterpoint - The entire nation has been more fricked up than a football bat for the past 5 years. Capping player compensation is the least of their worries.

Alabama made Bryce Young a millionaire before he took his first snap. You were the first team to do something like that the first year of NIL. frick off
