River Rat and Swamp Cabbage are my two local favorites.

Love Swamp Cabbage, that's where my friends and I tailgate. Doug and Maria are great people

Louisiana is Gnarly Barley, my overall favorite craft brewery. They are in Hammond.

Great Raft in Shreveport has some good brews as well

Shiner may be the Texas beer but that doesn't make it all that great given the explosion of quality local stuff the last 10-15 years. I would add in Rahr & Sons, St. Arnold, Peticolas, Karbach, and Jester King.

Core Brewing is gross. They focus on marketing, which is why they got the stadium contract.
Most people speak highly of Ozark Beer Co in Rogers. Bike Rack in Bentonville is also good. Fossil Cove in Fayetteville is good, too.
My personal favorite is Black Apple Crossing in Springdale.

Would include Martin House, and even though Deep Ellum Brewing sold out, they still have solid beers. Community’s Mosaic IPA is also really good.

Seems like some dated info in here, I thought someone bumped an old thread.
Agree with the other poster that Trimtab is probably the best coming out of AL right now. I don't think you'd find many beer guys who rave about anything Abita is doing of late.
As for Georgia, Creature Comforts is still solid but I'm pretty bored with a million variations of a beer I don't really care about - Athena. I went to the brewery a month or two ago and couldn't really find anything to get excited about. I still like CC a lot but they seem to be losing some steam IMO.
In Atlanta there is a lot going on. Scofflaw was hot for a while but has cooled off and is kind of going through a similar phase as CC I think. Some solid beers but little else is hitting. Wild Leap is killing it. Steady Hand here in Atlanta is piquing my interest lately, as well as Cherry Street up in Cumming. I've heard some folks rave about Variant in Roswell but everything was pretty mediocre in my only visit so far.

Considering it's size/wealth, I can't think of a state that has underperformed as much in the craft era. I will say Texas has caught up relatively well and has a lot of very good offerings, but it was slooowwwwww (Dallas is responsible for most of this IMO).

Not placing fault on anyone for not caring about craft beer, but my observation about southern CFB fans is that they’re more cocktail and light beer oriented. I’ve got no problem with that.
But I agree with you. Trim Tab, Ghost Train, Good People, Cahaba, and Avondale in that order. I think GP and Cahaba do the best at selling their packaged products through distro but it’s hard to beat what Trim Tab and Ghost Train have on in their taprooms and through smaller releases.
