Hmmmmm….why does everyone thing we are a joke? There are so many reasons. Fake trophies, cups, delusional fan base. Straight up EMPTY trophy case. The most desperate try hard win nothing fan base in all of sports. No matter how much money you tend to throw at the problem it’s always the same. It’s kind of pathetic.

Like I said the other day in a different thread.
A&M will have a huge buyout to payoff soon and will end up overpaying for a new hire that inevitably won’t work out.

But it is sad that Texans have to resort to academic smack anymore. Academics and minor sports is pretty much the only thing UT and ATM can bring these days.

It is true that widespread A&M hate coincides with A&M joining the SEC, but it's not for the reasons you're telling yourself. A&M never put up fake championships; that's an internet myth born from a picture that was taken during construction, when the completed lettering wasn't yet installed.
The open date national championship was part harmless joke and part statement of our commitment to becoming an elite program. Nobody hated us when we were a top 15 program; LOTS of folks hating our rise to a top 5 program. (We may or may not make it, but we're committed to investing resources to getting there; we're trying like hell to get there.)
And it's just false that we claim to be world beaters every Sept.
