only a Non-power 5 HC, an assistant coach or and NAIA coach is gonna accept the OM job. Even some Non-power 5 coaches will wait on the right job. No one wants to walk in the kind of dumpster fire they are inheriting. They will wait 4 -5 years until the bridge coach is fired and they can work under a sanction free environment

I think a realistic, solid, experienced coach would be Marshall's Doc Holliday.

They will keep Luke through the probation years then hire a coach after.

He gets paid his remaining contract $$ unless he is employed as HC at another school IIRC

I think Kiffin will absolutely take that job if offered. An SEC head coaching gig? That dudes in.

A) I don't think Ole Miss would offer based on his reputation. The word is definitely out that he likes the ladies and he's had his share of NCAA run-ins. He makes headlines for the wrong reasons, and that's not what OM needs right now. Also, it's quite possible he'll never be an above average head coach.

B) I don't think he'd take the job. Ole Miss is likely to get USC-level sanctions and they don't have the natural recruiting advantages that USC has (location, tradition, recent championship pedigree, quality of academics, etc.). Furthermore, the next Ole Miss HC is likely to be a place holder for the probationary period and then likely to be removed once those penalties have expired. This is a program that has fired Cutcliffe, Nutt, and coach O. Tubs walked out on them and Freeze obviously couldn't stay on. To think that fanbase will accept their position as a .500 program towards the bottom of the league every year flies in the face of recent evidence. To think that any rational hire is going to exceed that level with the sanctions coming, well I think that's a long shot. The next hire likely will have a short shelf life, and the most attractive of candidates know that.

I could possibly get on boardwith this

This I don't necessarily agree with. Ole Miss is not USC. If Kiffin wins there, they will not fire him. And Kiffin would rather be coaching in the SEC than whatever conference FAU is in

Tuberville took the job at the start of severe probation for Ole Miss and walked out on them with a 25-20 overall record and 12-20 in the SEC. He was an up and coming coach at the time with stints at Miami as DC and A&M as DC. They were very pleased with Tuberville.

Matt Luke is inevitably going to get the job once the sanctions are handed down because no one else is going to want it.

Luke is only really an option if the NCAA hammers Ole Miss (2+ year bowl ban).

These national writers don't know shite about a coaching search that isn't even fricking taking place right now. They are just looking for clicks.

Good name that would be worth a call, but I'm not sure how realistic. He's a West Virginia guy that got pretty emotional when he was hired by Marshall.

Not saying he wouldn't entertain the Ole Miss job, but I can see him being comfortable with staying where he's at.

Do you really think if Les was that desperate to have a job to go to every day that he'd still be unemployed?
of course he's that desperate. he is a grass eating Houston Nutt.

Or Jay Hopson at Southern Miss...

he's also won a national title, multiple SEC titles and won 114 games in 11 1/3 years at LSU. His resume isn't even comparable to Houston Nutt's. Les doesn't have a lot of years left in him. He's just not going to take a job at a school where he won't be able to start building towards anything for 5 years. If he were that desperate he'd have a job this year. Les wants to coach again but he wants to coach somewhere where it's possible to win.
