Skip didn't necessarily "mess up" but his term as A.D. wasn't near as great as his baseball record.

How much does it change the dynamic though if he's going to be the President's chief advisor?

Not gonna lie I don’t think that role would fit him very well. He wanted LsU to hire Houston Nutt when he left LsU

Can you imagine if we hired Frank Beamer as the next AD?

Ray Tanner out as Gamecock AD

This is a great day for Gamecock athletics. Maybe now we can finally get an AD that understands the modern landscape and isn’t a risk for getting stuck in a hot car.

Feel free to come and get Hunter Yurachek.

I am happy to see the change, nervous about who will hire.
Ill always be a Ray Tanner fan. He wasnt the best AD, but he also wasnt Carolina's worst. I hope when he is no longer AD that Gamecock fans will still treat him well.

I have nothing against him personally outside of him being under qualified as an AD. He didn't do terrible but he made himself and the university look silly at times.
I am glad I can now choose to just remember him as a fantastic baseball coach, replacement hire pending.

So, does USC have a candidate in mind, or is this an open search?

Who hired your 2X National Championship women's basketball coach?

Not Ray Tanner. The previous guy did.

I do credit him for keeping her around, but that was an Eric Hyman hire.
He hired Champ (didnt work out), Beamer, The mens soccer coach, our current softball coach, track coach.
Jury is still out on a few of those

How about women's B-Ball Coach?

3x and it was Eric Hyman that hired her. Tanner just kept extending her and giving her raises as other teams tried to hire her away, the only good he did coaching wise
