There is no such thing as an "Islamic flag", do you mean the Nation of Islam flag?

It’s common heraldry for flags for Islamic nations. Much like crosses and double eagles have been for European countries.

There used to only be 3 stars. The first three represent the 3 countries that owned the Arkansas territory: France, Spain, and the US. The 4th star added in the 1920s is for the Confederate State of America.

One of my friend's dad was a high school history teacher here in SC and he was one of those teachers that truly loved what he did and was an absolute wealth of knowledge, especially when it came to SC history. A few years ago, he told me there was a theory that the crescent wasn't a moon, and that some people believed it to be a gorget (armor piece protecting against bayonets in the area above the breast plate and below the chin). I've lived here for over 25 years and never heard that until then. Whether its true or not, its still a pretty cool story, and the flag is by far, one of the best in the US.

SC State Flag - Moon or Gorget

That's like saying any flag with a red stripe reminds of you the flag of Iraq.

Arkansas. Just burn this bullshite and start over.
Hard disagree. I love our flag. Hard to tell how much of it is bias but the diamond and stars is a cool bit of symbolism, IMO. I'm much more partial to that than some of these designs that look like something memaw would crochet.

South Carolina's looks too Muslim. As much as I hate to say it, Tennessee has the best state flag of the SEC schools.

the diamond

It’s one obscure park with no significance to the state’s history or economy. At least put something cool like Hot Springs, Mammoth Spring, or any number of the better stuff y’all have.

Arkansas’ flag has me wanting a glass of tea.

ETA: Red Diamond Tea was founded in 1906 in Birmingham. Alabama. Arkansas adopted their flag design in 1913. Pretty fishy if you ask me.

I don't know, South Carolina's looks like Libya's or some other Arab shite with the palm tree and crescent moon.

It's not a plam tree dumb@$$, it's a Palmetto. And if you knew SC's state history, you'd understand the significance and how cool it actually was.

quote:

Colonel Moultrie chose a blue color which matched the color of their uniforms and a crescent which reproduced the silver emblem worn on the front of their caps. The palmetto tree symbolized Colonel Moultrie's heroic defense of the palmetto-log fort on Sullivan's Island against the attack of the British fleet on June 28, 1776.

I think we just disagree. 75,000 diamonds since it opened and it's one of the only diamond mines in the world that is open to the public and lets you keep everything you find. The Crater of Diamonds is world famous. Some tourist from France just dug up a 7 carat diamond in January of this year.

Our original was better. I'd remove the stars from the diamond border.
