In terms of effectiveness (not stats, not points scored/allowed, etc), what are the top 3 defenses and offenses in the SEC? What I mean by "not stats" is, how good are the teams at bearing down and getting the job down when it matters most? The stats don't always tell that.

Jimbo has the number one defense by far. He doesn't allow his team or others to score

Would think scoring offense/defense would cover “when it matters most”.

I mean what defense is the best at getting stops, what offense is able to score even when they start at their own 2, that sort of thing.

See what opponent has punted the most and has had the most turnovers.
Vice versa

Desperately trying to find a measure where LSU isn’t the best offense in the conference.
They are. Fortunately for you and the rest of the SEC, the defense is abysmal

3. Ole Miss
Defense
1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Texas A&M
Offense

That's actually hilarious...unlike some, I don't spend that much time thinking about teams I hate.

In the SEC, Tennessee has:
- Number one ranked rushing offense
- 9th ranked passing attack
On defense:
- 4th ranked total D which is neck and neck with and basically the same level as Bama, Aggies and UGA
- 3rd in team sacks
- 4th in least amount of rushing yards allowed

UGA’s defense may play the best moving forward (gun to head I’d probably project that), but Bammer and A&M’s defense have been better this year imo

Tennessee, A&M and Bama are almost interchangeable on defense imo.
We did just lose our shutdown corner in Hadden due to injury though who was graded a top 3 DB in the nation before we went down.

The reality is stats work pretty well to answer this question.
I prefer yards per play.
On defense, UGA and A&M are both allowing 4.55 yards per play which is tops in the conference. Bama is just slightly behind at 4.57 yards per play.
On offense, LSU leads the conference (and nation) at 8.09 yards per play. UGA is second at 7.16, Ole Miss is third at 6.8 yards per play.

The UT defense is nowhere close from an analytics perspective to any of those defenses.

YPP is often who looks the best to the eye test but there are a lot of offenses who chew up lots of yards but can’t convert them into points.
To me PPD tracks better with outcomes if that makes sense?

He means "help me find a way to say that A&M has a good defense, since the stats and our record don't bear it out".

LSU is basically a Kyler Murray era OU team.
It’s really rare to see a team track #1 on one side of the ball and 100+ on the other side.
Yall are basically inverse Iowa this year which is insane given some of the talent you have on that side of the ball (Perkins, etc).
