I wasn’t planning on attending Mizzou anyway, and a lot of folks from my neck of the woods go to Ole Miss and MS State.

I can’t blame my parents, though. A lot of friends from high school went to Mizzou and promptly failed out after a semester.

Fair enough! I know the Boot is only a short drive from MS so it makes sense if you're from that part of the state.

Have a good one, sir

my Grandmother that I never knew was from Bismark, near Farmington

she died young in an accident

I've met her sister, my great aunt, and that was really nice

ETA: I guess they spell it "Bismarck"

Are you sure she wasn't from Farmington? That would explain a lot.

Just kidding, HRV.

Based on this thread, the Bama rating seems to be spot on. Interesting

While not necessarily indicating IQ...if you rank counties (data didn't drill down to cities) SEC schools are in by number of residents holding Doctorates, it would be:

1) Travis County, TX - 20,127
2) Davidson County, TN - 11,351
3) Alachua County, FL - 8,242
4) Brazos County, TX - 7,351
5) Knox County, TN - 7,044
6) Fayette County, KY - 6,958
7) Richland County, SC - 6,612
8) East Baton Rouge Parish, LA - 5,546
9) Boone County, MO - 4,408
10) Cleveland County, OK - 4,269
11) Clarke County, GA - 4,100
12) Tuscaloosa County, AL - 3,495
13) Lee County, AL - 2,887
14) Washington, AR - 2,837
15) Lafayette County, MS - 1,956
16) Oktibbeha County, MS - 1,912

LINK

Now...how much of that is contribution from the professors at the university, vs the surrounding population? Since I couldn't find a site just listing faculty size...a relative size index based on enrollment will have to suffice (ranked smallest to largest).

1) Vanderbilt University - 13,710
2) Mississippi State University at Starkville - 22,649
3) University of Mississippi at Oxford - 24,710
4) University of Oklahoma at Norman - 27,772
5) University of Kentucky at Lexington - 29,986
6) University of Tennessee at Knoxville - 30,559
7) University of Missouri at Columbia - 31,089
8) University of Arkansas at Fayetteville - 32,140
9) Auburn University at Auburn - 33,015
10) Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge - 34,285
11) University of South Carolina at Columbia - 35,470
12) University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa - 37,840
13) University of Georgia at Athens - 39,147
14) University of Texas at Austin - 50,476
15) University of Florida at Gainesville - 53,372
16) University of Texas A&M at College Station - 70,418

Forced Ranking:
So...to get the most PhDs in the county with the smallest contribution by the university system (meaning that the population holds doctorates outside of working for the university), we add the 2 rankings together, and ties are placed in order of # of doctorates in county first.

1) Vandy - 2+1 = 3
2t) Tennessee - 5+6 = 11
2t) Kentucky - 6+5 = 11
4) Oklahoma - 10+4 = 14
5) Texas - 1+14 = 15
6) Missouri - 9+7 = 16
7t) Florida - 3+15 = 18
7t) South Carolina - 7+11 = 18
7t) LSU - 8+10 = 18
7t) Ole Miss - 15+3 = 18
7t) Mississippi State - 16+2 = 18
12) Texas A&M = 4+16 = 20
13) Auburn - 9+13 = 22
13t) Arkansas - 14+8 - 22
15) Georgia - 11+13 = 24
16) Alabama - 12+12 = 24

What does all of this mean??? Pretty much, nothing...other than I had some extra time on a Thursday to throw a bunch of numbers together. That, and there are quite a few PhDs in Knoxville around a relatively small university.

When UGA mops the floor with the Vols during our annual prison-raping this season, are you going to take your toys and leave the playground and we will finally be rid of you for good alter?
