Then tell everyone to stop moving to NWA. People aren’t just visiting they are moving to NWA. This article obviously doesn’t take into account business visits or Arkansas would be much higher for NWA business travel alone

There is also no way this takes into account people going to Southland Casino in West Memphis from Memphis and MS. Southland has basically shut down the casinos in MS

That link is for 2020, not last year.

Black spring break putting in work.

That aside,

Vicksburg Historical Park, beaches, Casinos, people into blues and music (blues trail, Elvis/Tupelo), college towns of Oxford and Starkville, and probably the thing we are best known for…the food. Lots of great eats everywhere all over the state.

Lots of decent beaches and casinos in Mississippi. I hear Oxford ain’t half bad either

This plus Mississippi has a lot of cultural history. You’d be surprised how many people come here for the blues trail, civil rights museums, historical markers like old antebellum homes, where Emmitt till was lynched, etc.

We also get a lot of out of state hunters particularly for ducks

There aren't any "decent" beaches in Mississippi.

Arkansas isn't a big tourism state.

It’s more of shitty water than the actual beach itself but yea I’ve never known of anyone to go to a beach vacation on the MS coast. Everyone goes to Orange Beach/30A

Charleston is better than anything the state of Louisiana has to offer let's just be honest here.

Depends on what you're looking for.

I lived in South Carolina for 20 years. For me, I love Louisiana. Hunting (S Carolina duck and deer hunting sucks), fishing (I love the bayous and swamps vs. the deep clear water man made lakes), music and food. Plus your beaches are covered in sea shells and suck.

I'm extremely happy with my decision to move home.

NWA isn't a tourist destination. It is a place to get jobs at Walmart, Tyson and JB Hunt. The cost of living is cheaper compared to larger states.

Northern Arkansas counties not just NWA are growing.

That is the strength and Arkansas advertises it to the maximum. But everything else is weak and it doesn't help that it is surrounded by other states that offer much more.

That's fine. I've visited Louisiana once and I don't aspire to ever return back. The cities just seemed extremely dirty. And you're clearly one of the outliers because far more people are moving to South Carolina than are moving to Louisiana. There's a reason why one state is growing in population and the other is not.

I love Alabama and it has some unexpectedly beautiful places, but I don’t think anybody considers it a vacation hotspot….except for our beaches. Alabama Tourism advertises heavily in the Midwest for Gulf Shores, etc.

I own a house in Foley about 10 minutes from the beach and I’m on several community Facebook pages including Gulf Shores and Orange Beach just to keep up with goings on. Not a day goes by without multiple posts from Ohio, Indiana, etc, asking where to stop in Alabama for a break in their trip, things to do, where to eat, etc..

Can’t prove it with statistics just anecdotal, but likely reason for Alabama’s ranking is those hundreds of thousands who drive I-65 to Alabama and Florida beaches every year. They stop and eat or get a hotel halfway down, like Athens or Prattville, so even if they divert to Florida beaches it counts as a “visit” to Alabama.

Little Rock sucks, it offers nothing except flat tires and crime. Bill Clinton presidential library? That place looks like a mobile home. Very fitting for a white trash president.

My in-laws are retired in Magnolia Springs, beautiful area. Always enjoy visiting there ... at least for a little while.

With as many casinos we have along the borders, I'm surprised we aren't higher. Family vacation wise, we don't have much though.

Broken Bow & the surrounding areas are phenomenal for family trips.
