This is the last ranking of the series. Then we will determine which team is the best at each position for the SEC. For now let’s go rank so Safeties.
#1 Jalen Catalon: (Arkansas)
All over the field. At first I thought he was a CB. But after good info about him being a safety he was quickly moved ahead of everyone. He is number 1 and I don’t think it’s even close.
#2 Jordan Battle: (Alabama)
Bama fans made me do it. He’s now number 2 on here. Didn’t realize how good he was until PFF stats and watching his highlights.
He and Catalon seem to have separated themselves by a wide margin.
#3 Leon O Neal: (Texas AM)
solid year for O Neal. Not as good compared Battle or Catalon but up there.
Safety position is really lacking you could say next year. So I expect O Neal to stay on this list at the end of season unless others step up.
#4 Yusuf Corker: (Kentucky)
I believe he is the leading tackler out of this group with 74 total tackles which is great. He will step up big time in the secondary now that I think top tier CB Kelvin Joseph has declared for the draft.
#5 Collin Duncan: (Miss State)
First time starting as a sophomore had a nice campaign for Miss State. 42 total tackles 2 ints and 1 ff is certainly not bad numbers. I expect another big leap next season.
Please let me know if any names were missed. Didn’t rlly know too much for Safeties this year.
Honorable Mentions:
Lewis Cine (UGA)
Todd Harris (LSU)
Daniel Wright (Alabama)
Christopher Smith (UGA)
Smoke Monday (Auburn)
Demani Richardson (Texas AM)
Martez Manuel (Missouri)

Ignorant list. O’Neal isn’t even the best safety on the team

Absolutely not, no, god no.
Harris has never been any good here

He would be on here. But until he plays a down it’s gonna be tough to put him in the top 5.

Keep an eye on Lewis Cine for Georgia. Came in when Richard LeCounte went down and he should have an outstanding year in 2021.

jmho but I'd rank Jordan Battle ahead of Wright.

You are thinking of Christopher Smith. Lewis Cine started along side LeCounte in most games. He missed a game after that tremendous hit on Lule Pitts. I do think Christopher Smith should be honorable mention too.

I dont think Wright for Bama should be that high. Jordan Battle is our top safety. Some people think Demarco Hellams has passed Wright. I would put all three of them in the top 10, not sure what order.

Ah. I guess I just noticed Cine more after LeCounte went out.
Christopher Smith is also very good.
Thanks.

Added. I thought he was more of a CB. But thanks for letting me know.

Its the first time in over a decade probably that we have a safety that can be mentioned alongside all the usual suspects. We don’t want him to go unnoticed.
