What has Malzahn done that Smart has not done? Smart has done more than Malzahn, including beaten him head to head more and recruiting better.
Beaten Saban and done it more than any other SEC coach. Smart is in a weaker division and is at the state school in a state loaded with talent.

You can’t include this guy in top 5 but I often wonder how Mason would do at a school that had more resources and more tradition. Say Auburn is he better or worse than Gus with the same athletes.

I wouldnt mind having Mason as HC if the ship sinks on Malzahn. For now, Im putting all my support for GM i think he does a great job of running a clean program and bringing in Quality young men, The only problem i have is his lack of OL recruiting. If he can correct that im ok with the rest. He is a very new and green coach. I mean, hes only been a head coach for a total of 7 years at college level. If the ship does sail though my number one pick for replacement is Bill Clark at UAB. Proven winner with alot of ties in Alabama. As for my list of top coaches are as follows

1-Saban
2-Jimbo
3 (tie- Gus and Smart)
5 ( tie -Stoops and Mullen)

I think Kirby has done a little more overall and head to head than Gus but he has also An easier path in the weaker division, and is the Primary school in one of the most fertile recruiting states in the country)

I have Jimbo second just bec he is only coach other than Saban to have a ring, but I think he is overrated and I dont think he will do a whole lot at aTm. I think he will improve over the next couple years and maybe make a run but then he will peak as he did as FSU and start to go downhill.

I think Mullen will have to many discipline problems at UF to ever do much

I think Stoops is probably really one of the best in the league,,,along with Mason. I would like to see what he could do at Bama, AU, UGA, UF

No. That one year when the refs gave your cry baby QB a TD, when he was a yard short. So God corrected the refs mistake.

Refs missed the face mask, which prevented the td.

Low-Key, I would put Stoops in the top 5 easily. He can develop nothing into something, and constantly does more with less. If he coached anywhere else theyd be a terror.

I was just throwing Auburn out there. Wasn’t trolling you. Thanks for your answer.

I agree Stoops does not get enough credit.

Careers
Saban
Fisher (Won a title, had FSU humming, decent at TAMU)
Malzahn (Played for a title, and won a title as OC)
Smart (Played for a title, has UGA Top 10, DC for 2-3 titles_
Mullen (OC for two titles, had MSU ranked #1...)

State school. Another Auburn excuse. Y'all never run out of them, do you?

Okay. So what about head to head? tell us the new Auburn excuse for the weaker coach in the weaker division beating the superior coach in the superior division head to head.

I can't wait to hear it.

As far as being loaded with talent....in't that part of the coaches job? To recruit? In spite of Saban being in Alabama he seems to be able to put together pretty impressive rosters. I wonder why Malzahn can't? Half of Auburn's recruits commit to the University of Auburn, anyway, so do you really think they know the difference between a state school and not?

It has been shown that Auburn gets as much money as Alabama does from the state, so there is one excuse taken away from you.

3t - Gus
3t - Kirby

That's an interesting take given that Kirby's done more in less time (plus having to beat #2 AU to play and beat #2 OU) to get his shot at the MNC. Plus he's 3-1 vs Gus as a HC

UGA plays one team a year in the regular season. Occasionally 2 if someone in the East is worth a crap. It's not hard to coach a team up for 1 game a year.
