Was this an actual logo?

I've never seen that one before in my life. Curious if they made that for the student newspaper that is called the Plainsman, like some schools had made specific logos for different colleges.

Was it common for tigers to wear sailor hats back in the day instead of walking around in their birthday suits like you see today? You see old time pictures of gentlemen where everyone used to dress in a suit in public but didn’t know tigers used to dress classier back in the day too
there's an artist who created like 50 sailor logos for a bunch of different schools.

here's a sample from a quick google search

Going to agree to disagree, then whats the point of calling them "Old School" if you are saying MSU is legit?

They are just block letting nothing special and they are the only one that didnt have their mascot as part of it.

All good we just disagree, and I am biased but I think Texas retro is legit, not what else we should have done with a steer to make it look cool

Art Evans

LINK

Very prolific. At one time he probably designed about 90% of the mascots used. You can sometimes for the bear/tiger/wildcat schools he just used the same drawing and re colored it.

This is an actual retro logo and it looks far better than the meth'd out bird

Disagree. The meth'd out bird looks like he's hung around NightCaps one too many times. This is a good thing.

The Oregon one is interesting because stylistically it’s different with its lines/simplicity and it’s unmistakably pissed off Donald Duck.

Rank The Old School Logos

Those aren't logos - those are mascot caricatures, totally different than a logo.

Missouri's old logo is a W, because that's all opposing teams saw when they played.

They all look better than the modern logos of these teams. Wont rank Bama out of bias but State, Arkansas and Florida look best to me

It genuinely makes me sad that Ole Miss has cucked itself. When I was a dumb little kid I thought Robert E Lee was an Ole Miss fan

That's pretty funny but you're an Oklahoma fan, so not funny anymore.

I really wish the powers in charge in Tuscaloosa would replace the goofy circle logo with this logo on the football field. Over the last few years its use has soared in popularity from game day apparel to even the basketball team incorporating it into an alternate uniform.

Absolutely. Love the classic logo. New Bama car tags have gone back to it this year...I want to see it on tv graphics and everything.

The script A is blah.

The logo in the 90s should have gotten someone fired.
