He had absolutely no business winning it over Larry Fitzgerald. There wasn't even really an argument for it aside from "yeah he's not nearly as good, but he plays QB for a better team".

He also won it over some scrub named Eli Manning

The numbers proved otherwise. And he had two bad knees going into 2003, and still put up Heisman numbers. Was a finalist again in 2004.

Herschel
Smitty
Burrow

Hate on DeVonta all you want but the bigger the game the better he played. Literally unguardable this year with the stats and records to match.

No Bama player will be at the top because they normally don’t carry a team like a Cam Newton does.

Are we back to LSU fans claiming that Joe was carrying a roster of scrubs?

Best WR corps ever yet also complete garbage. Got it.

Gonna be a lot of people listing the guys from their team. Anyway, my list based on two things: pure athletic ability and how hard they carried their teams.

Bo
Herschel
Cam
Tebow
Manziel
Devonta Smith

Herschel had more total yards than Bo but he also had a lot more attempts. Bo had a much better average per rush. Both were great athletes. Bo perhaps the best athlete ever.

Cam carried his team probably harder than anyone (Tebow is a close 2nd).

Manziel also carried his team pretty hard, but they didn't win anything with him really.

Devonta is maybe the best WR ever, but his team was filled with a shitload of 1st rounders. He might be higher on the list if he played for a worse team.

why shouldn't he have won it?

He deserved it. I think the poster is saying that, in hindsight, he wasn't a great player overall (in terms of having a future in the pros), but he was the best player on a very good Auburn team that season.

Manziel never beat LSU

Bo Jackson
Cam Newton
Joe Burrow
Tim Tebow
Derrick Henry

These are the top five and in no particular order.

Herschel, easiest #1 vote ever
Henry, closest thing to Herschel I’ve seen
Devonte, I swear it looked like Ohio State’s game plan was to not cover him at all

One absolute fact:

16. Mark Ingram - RB Alabama

Pat Sullivan in the running for 16 too.

Evans and the receivers carried manziel. Go back and watch and a lot of throws were hope and a prayer throws.

Bo
Hershel
Joe
Cam

Rest is tough.

That’s stupid.

In this order:
1. Herschel
2. Bo
3. Scam

The ones I enjoyed watching the most, has nothing to do with who is the "best player":

Burrow

Manziel

Cam

Tebow

Henry

It’s hard to rank one position above another, but I’d say without a doubt that Devonta is the best WR in the SEC to ever win the Heisman.
