Just some options

- Skip Bertman
- Ron Polk
- Ray Tanner
- Tim Corbin
- Kevin O'Sullivan
- Paul Mainieri
- June Raines
- Hal Baird
- Norm DeBriyn
- Jim Wells
- Rod Delmonico (yes I'm laughing too but compare his SEC Titles/CWS appearance resume to others)

Other possibilities : Mike Bianco, Dave Van Horn, Andy Lopez, Steve Webber, John Cohen, Tom Swayze, Larry Schmittou

You run out of guys with national titles and/or multiple CWS Appearances/SEC Titles pretty quick.

Cohen's coaching tree also adds to his legacy.

My list would probably be
Bertman
Tanner
Corbin
Cohen
Raines

Probably some recency bias but don't care.

As I started putting together the list that was my first though too, but then you realize SEC baseball as a whole only became a total force top to bottom about 20-25 years ago, so it would make sense that most coaches on the list would be the last couple generations.

Not going to be a lot of coaches on there from 1975.

Bertman
Tanner
Corbin

Top 3 IMO

You can't put anyone in the top 5 that doesn't have a title

You've got me there. Sully is a hell of a recruiter.

Polk had the best team in the country in '85, but didn't get the title.

That's not really the way it works, though

Yea, of the current crop I take Sully and Corbin. Sully's overall success is pretty incredible (6 CWS, 1 Runner Up, 1 Title in 11 years) and what Corbin has done at Vanderbilt is remarkable.

Tom Swayze at Ole Miss needs serious consideration. Vandy's Larry Schmittou needs "top" ten consideration.

Polk is the Grandaddy of SEC Baseball. When he was hired in 1976, he set about to make the SEC great in baseball, not just State. So from 1977-85, he developed State into a great baseball program. In 1984 LSU hired Skip Bertman after they saw what State had done and could see that baseball could be a revenue sport. Then after that over the next 10+ years State/LSU brought the SEC up to national prominence. LSU obviously had much the bette of it, winning numerous CWS titles through the 90's and on into the 2000's.

As a result every other SEC team in the last 20 years has built new stadiums or upgraded or are about to upgrade their facilities. Teams like USCe, Vandy, UK, Arky and on have become power house teams. Now everybody outside UT and Mizzou are really good.
