Arkansas has a banner just for making the NCAA tournament

Negative.

The only banners in The Palace are National Title, Final Fours, and retired jerseys.

Where are these? There are 33 of these banners somewhere? Definitely not hanging in Bud Walton.

Elite 8 should be the only answer to this question

Elite 8 > Regular Season Title > Tournament Champs

Or if you’re Arkansas and just making it to the tournament and getting bounced early.

We made it to the elite eight and got beat by the eventual national champs. Idk how you can consider that getting “bounced early”.

You must be new to basketball.

Exactly. Hopefully we can at least make the sweet 16 this year. Next year it’s final four or bust

Mizzou basketball isn't my #1 college basketball team. Good try tho.

Are they really any less meaningless than an Elite 8 run? With those two you at least get a trophy and a t-shirt. You might even get the accomplishment listed on a banner in your gym. With an Elite 8 appearance you get a "Well....you almost got there."

conference tournaments have bigger implications(not that I agree that they should, but they do).

Example, My fav team is currently in a race to win the regular season. I do not care one bit if they win the regular season title as long as they are playing well at the end, and can lock a double bye.

If you think an elite eight run is meaningless you obviously aren’t a college basketball fan. Lots of fairweather fans in this thread. Stick to football

I think they have a great shot...of course, assuming they can draw a matchup with the 4th best team in the Summit League to get there

It certainly depends what level you are at. Obviously conference tournaments matter much more for Troy or Vermont as they are basically the entire season for those schools. If you are in the race to win the regular season title in the SEC/B1G/Big XII.......you aren't worried about having to win the conference tournament to get to the NCAA Tournament. The ACC is a little different due to their history and the fact that they don't even award a regular season title - the Tournament is all that matters.

Last year was a huge year for us winning the SEC Title and Tournament Title. However, at this point I certainly feel more focused on the NCAA Tournament than the regular season. So I guess a lot of it has to do with where you are as a program, what your recent history has been, etc. Going wire to wire in the SEC was a pretty huge deal considering our up and down past 15 years or so. Clinching the regular season title felt like an exclamation point on a new era of basketball at Alabama, whereas one run in the tournament might not have.

Now, though, with that on the mantle, I'd put the NCAA Tournament at the forefront.

Yes. Elite 8 trumps those.

My opinion.... NCAA Tournament success trumps everything

1. Elite 8
2. SEC Regular Season
3. SEC Tournament

I'd probably even take a Sweet 16 appearance over an SEC Title, but that's just me.

Is this a serious question? No one nationally gives a frick about conference titles. Basketball programs are measured on their success in the NCAA tournament.
