For those of you on tRant, what has surprised you the most so far, regarding the SEC? (I’m not saying tRant has the pulse of the SEC, but tRant has the pulse of the SEC).

They might be the worst fan base in all of sports.

I’d rather chat with Cowboys fans

1. The number of NC's claimed by individual programs
2. People actually believe A&M's "We Rich!"
3. The number of boating accidents that have occurred over
the last few years

1. How some SEC teams don't play each other for ~ 10 years.
2. The young age of so many posters who tend to believe big time college football and college sports only started in the last ~ 20 years.
3. How much A&M's view of the world was generally accepted by the Rant, and how A&M's view of UT was accepted as gospel.
4. The wide acceptance of recruiting irregularities v. other parts of the country.

This wasn't true before Aggy and Mizzou came along. When we were at 12 teams, you played your rotating teams from the other division 2 out of every 5 years. It was perfect. Then Aggy and Mizzou fricked it all up.

It was true before the '80s. One very weird aspect of SEC history was the time when teams made their own schedules, and could play a varying number of conference games.

Don’t have to preach that gospel too much. Your fan base will prove us to be correct. This is 90% of tu fans.

I think that people seem to care so much about Austin and it’s politics. Doesn’t have much bearing to me on Texas football and the fanbase.

I'm an OU fan but the Rant is great because of the interactivity and I like the fact that SEC fans can bicker and they can also come together and gang up on non SEC fans and teams when the want (like OU baseball last week). It's great.

This board is great because you can give some team's fan(s) unmitigated excrement and not get banned. And then the next minute you and the guy(s) you were just giving grief too can join together and go after the poor sap(s) from another school.

In reality though, every school, team and fan base in the SEC (including Texas and OU) have a lot to be proud of.

We all have had our '1939' moments. Mostly since 1939.

tRant likes to think it does, but it doesn't due to it nearly always being a few leaps behind.

How passionate the conference is overall. Good, lousy or otherwise everyone is passionate about their Fanhood. Also, as was mentioned earlier the SECs' fan base is without a doubt the most knowledgeable about football in the country, and it's not even close.
