Well, I don't either, except that is how a lot of northerners view us. They see us as a defeated nation. Still a bunch of Confederates, and we didn't help that much. Ole Miss, for example, still sold the Rebel flag in Carl Coers on campus in the 1980's.

I think what Shelby Foote was describing continues to fade with time...

But it darn sure existed during the days of segregated football in the SEC. There is no other way to explain why Ray Graves put rebel flag insignias on the Florida Gator helmets when they played Penn State in the Gator bowl in 1962.

As for Oklahoma... My grandfather said it best...

"If you tell a guy in Idabel, OK (SE OK) that he is NOT southern... he will directly punch you right in the mouth...

But if you tell a guy in Alva, OK (NW OK) that he IS southern... he will also directly punch you right in the mouth."

So you're saying that you are "unburden by what has been" ?

If the civil war were to have taken place today, you'd better believe that oklahoma would be southern in the blink of an eye. Outside of a few very small differences in dialect and customs, the general sentiment is the same between the two. The lines on the map would look a lot different today than they did during the Civil war. For the most part, everyone here would prefer to be left alone and not told what to do.

I'm actually really surprised at the vitriol between Missouri and Texas...Oklahoma vs Missouri seems to be much milder

67–24–5 All time against Missouri. There's no reason for vitriol lol.

Who has surprised you?
Not a “who”, but it is surprising that the historic SEC rivalries aren’t as intense as they used to be. Think that’s because of NIL/portal.

Who is the most arrogant?
Arrogant for good reason- Bama. Arrogant for no reason- Aggies.

Which fan base did you not realize was so unhinged, and why is it Tennessee?
The real Tennessee fans here seem cool. The 1,000 alters dude is unhinged though.

Nothing surprising. I expected the “new kid in school” treatment. I dont think there was a Big 12 board so we didn’t get the see how vocal Texas posters were, other than on their own boards which is different….

While the MB didn’t surprise me, the SEC media somewhat surprised me with their underwhelming appraisal of Oklahomas chances at success.

Florida fans are all in a state of depression. Low time right now for us. That’s why you don’t hear much right now.

LSU has surprised me the most. They are often funny and grasp irony well. They also clearly enjoy poking the goofy sad inferiority complex cult that is A&M. Gotta love them for that. They are a pleasant surprise.

GA and AL are the most arrogant, but as they have earned it, can't say as I find it overly irritating.

Can't see as I find any fanbase routinely having more class than all the others. If I had to pick one, Florida posters (minus the more obvious alters) seem fairly grounded to reality, and grant points as warranted. But the sample size isn't that high - which makes me wonder, why are there seemingly so few regular FL posters on rant considering their size?

Until lately, I wouldn't have said that TN is the ultimate leader in being totally unhinged, but they must have recently put something odd in the water. Was the men's CWS win thunder stealing via the Texas hiring of Shlongnoozle really the cause of their seeming near psychotic break? I truly don't get it...but for now the Unhinged Award is sooo totally the TN biggest win. If they keep up this strident passive aggressive inferiority complex, they might just become Aggie North. That's even taking into account their many obvious alters.

Okies are Okies. At least we can respect the Okies wins.

gAggies remain the BAS lil' cult brothers we know and...annoyingly tolerate. Little ankle biting dogs come to mind as comparison.

I look forward to a enjoying a fun new year in a sports loving conference.

I knew the SEC was proud of their baseball, but it’s on another level. From the talent to the facilities to the fans all top notch. Reading the boards was almost as entertaining as the games themselves lol
