Texas followed A&M. Period.
Is a father coming into the supermarket to whip his son’s arse for making a mess of things “following?”
And did Texas A&M follow Arkansas? Or is there a statute of limitations on what is considered following? 20 years after isn’t following but 12 years is?

I'd rather have the Friday after Thanksgiving game with LSU back.

We didn't make a mess of anything, we have been good soldiers in the SEC
It was yall messing up the value of the Big 12 by running Nebraska off with your network and rules around walk ons that made the SEC the only viable option

Texas is garbage. More of a Sunbelt team

My question is this:
Why were Texas and OU unable to make the Big 12 work without us? Were they just not good enough, not popular enough, just not enough? A&M leaves, and the Big 12 dies as as a major conference.

If you're looking for a serious answer, the Big 12 would have failed even with A&M, Nebraska, Mizzou, and Colorado still in the fold. Eyeballs are everything now since cable channeling bundling is going away.
You see that now with Fox and Disney pushing for big games between name teams. They want high viewership games now since they can't get the automatic $10 (or whatever the number was) per captive subscriber anymore. Texas and OU in the SEC playing the likes of Alabama is obviously an asset. Without even looking it up, I suspect viewership for games of Texas vs. SEC opponent is higher than Texas vs. Big 12 opponent.
Demographics is king. There is more sports interest by raw viewership in the south than in the midwest.

I always knew little bro was going to follow us to the SEC.
The league literally went behind your back because they knew what a tantrum you would throw after realizing that your own conference no longer viewed you as the team to watch from Texas
And it didn’t even work. Your president still started crying about it on camera when they found out

We know it’s just a matter of time before the whorns ruin the SEC for everyone
quote:PLEEEEEEASE run away from us again. We’re still laughing about the last time yall did that
The B1G would take us. A&M, FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, UNC, Georgia Tech all in one swoop to make the B1G 24 teams and end realignment would be the perfect storm

By the time yall came to the SEC we had already established our own lore with the folks here
You were respected in the SWC and Big 12. You're a running joke over here, to the point where even I get offended sometimes.
At least we understood you back in the old days. These SEC folks don't get you at all. And they ain't afraid to say it.

Because all the section 8, double-wide, food stamping, no-job, fat-arse TV watchers are in the southeast.
Look at the west coast. Those people don't sit around on their arse watching TV and calling PAWL. They do shite. They have hobbies, interests.
So for better or worse, college football has migrated to the tractor pull, wrestling crowd, because that's who sits in front of the damn TV all day.

Not a fan of texas being in the league. Every league they've ever been part of they have made worse. They would do it to the SEC as well, but it seems that college football as a whole is doing it to itself with NIL, the portal, and expanding the playoffs until it's essentially a participation trophy...
I loved the12-team league with the divisions and traditional rivalries preserved while making room for the noobs. Now it's just too crowded. Can't make equitable schedules and serve all the desired rivalries. Too many contrived pairings that lack any juice.

I wouldn’t put it this way, but it’s true that fans along the corridor of what was the Pac12 don’t spend as much time indoors on Saturdays in the fall. The weather is nice. There’s lots to do outdoors. Many of these folks are easy drives to the beach or mountains.

Not many conferences could survive four of its six major programs leaving. The Big12 only survived because Delaney was able to convince everyone to keep it until the Big10 could kill the Pac12.

Nebraska just wanted more money. The Big10 offered it. What destabilized the Big12 was a bad tv deal in comparison to the Big10/SEC.

There's plenty of good weather in the southeast. It's a different breed of people. That's your main difference.
SEC fans are fat, lazy, unshaven, unbathed, unemployed, uneducated, unmotivated, big dog having, pajama pant wearing, walmart shopping, wife beating, shitty pickup driving, trailer parking, food stamping, fried food eating, Pawl calling wastes of oxygen.
But they do watch TV. And in their collective poverty they band together and rabidly support the college team from their piss arse state that the rest of the nation doesn't give two shites about. It gives them identity. And so here we are.

Honestly, Most of us aggies realize most of our "problems" are due to ourselves. We don't really give a shite who we play.
We play Texas? Okay. Would rather not....but whatever.
We play ND? Okay. They also get lots of favorable treatment. But whatever.
Bama? Same.
It really doesn't matter. It's us against the world no matter what.

: Is this for real ?? You were mid tier at best in the big 12 and not the reason the conference got into trouble. Nebraska, Colorado, and Mizzou also left because the Horns and ESPN destroyed the conference when ESPN wanted to defacto buy the Longhorns via the so called and now defunct "Longhorn Network".
And they were right to do so. You were only a part of the story. You aggy clowns are unreal with your self delusion. Try telling the whole truth for once
Posted on 9/25/25 at 6:04 pm to Red_and_black
Maybe you guys will finally win the conference now that all the real programs have left.
Posted on 9/25/25 at 7:09 pm to IvIerlot
We don’t want anything to do with a conference spanning the entire U.S. We are a Southern school as well and have no business in a conference with Iowa State, Kansas State and the like.

Thanks for the response, this is what I was talking about, to boil it down: Is it a mini-conference of torment, or is it 4 years of chaos for all and don't matter.
other than one or two, it's sounding like to me, that no one worried about having texas/okla as perms.
Good to hear, in my opinion.
