Sounds pretty stupid not to care about Oats leaving then, I guess

I evolved my position. Nate Oats was a net positive for Alabama Football. I do acknowledge this. If he were to leave now, I'd rank him up there with Wimp Sanderson simply for what he did for football recruiting.

Y’all are still ate up after he made it abundantly clear he’s not leaving Boston when Indiana came calling?

If our fanbase has anything to do with it, we’ll end up with another Gillispie if Cal gets run off.

I could see Pitino coaching Texas, but not Calipari. He's not a cultural fit.

Saban was making more in Miami. If it were about the money, he would've never came to Bama. Mal Moore promised him full control of everything football, something he wasn't getting at Miami, so he came. Now Utx wanted him, offered him more money, and would've gotten him, but they wouldn't give him full control. That was the deal breaker.

There are literally only 3 jobs Cal could take that aren't a step down, and they are only lateral at best: Duke, Kansas, and UNC.

UCLA belongs there, even though they haven't had success recently.

I tend to think he was getting that itch he got at every other stop but the difference this time was that his wife and daughter told him they liked Tuscaloosa and wanted to stay. Terry had carved out a niche as one of the ladies who lunch in town and Kristen was in a sorority at UA.

Additionally, there was a much clearer understanding and willingness to adapt at Saban’s request by the Alabama AD. He pretty much gets whatever he wants when he asks for it. He had already decided he liked the college game better and had a machine that was purpose built to give him what he needs...once the family came down with “no, we like it here fine” it just locked it up that this would be his final stop. When he didn’t really humor anything in 2013 or 2014, I was pretty confident in assuming he’d retire here at least.

Texas isn't getting either. The first candidate will be Chris Beard, and even then I give that only a 30% chance. If he wants the job, it's his.

My guess is it will be another mid-major coach that's had recent tournament success at multiple schools or Royal Ivey.

Texas AD having to make the two most important hires of his career within 4 months of each other. No pressure lol

Why are you still irrationally upset at the mention of his name. There is no reason, none, that the UK board wouldn't call him or his agent to gauge interest. It's not a waste of time at all.

And the board won't let Barnhart make another basketball hire after the Gillespie debacle.

Edit: Or is this because of Barnhart chasing Bill Parcells and missing out on other candidates before settling on Brooks. Doesn't matter as Barnhart isn't making the basketball hire anyway should there be one.

And no way Cal goes to Texas.
