Why would Bryan McLendon take a demotion to go to UT?That is also not a monster hire. You UT fans have been so starved of good coaches that every hire seems like a monster hire to you.

Nevermind the fact that the SCs only offense is their passing game, he's also BY FAR their best recruiter.

Oh, and as a Georgia fan, you ought to show a little more respect for McClendon, seeing as how you wouldn't even be sniffing the playoff without him

They aren't the same people that said Gruden was going to Tennessee, are they?

Yep.
“Sources have told VolQuest.com that Gruden has reached out to coaches about possibly reuniting in the near future. But does he want back in the NFL or in college? How do finances play into all of this? For Tennessee, Gruden would be a home run hire. He’s an offensive guru who can walk into prospects’ homes sporting a Super Bowl Ring.

And Bryan McClendon is expected to join on offense as well.

Tennessee won't even sniff a top 5 class in 2019. Top 10 maybe, but look at what Pruitt is recruiting against. And Texas is now recruiting at an elite level again.

FWIW, if you get McLendon he would be a great hire. We hated to lose him.

If Muschamp doesn't promote him to OC, he's gone. He'll either go back to Georgia or go to Knoxville.

So, Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan
The leaders and best!
Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes
Hail! Hail! to Michigan,
The champions of the West!

Yeah, I really hope Kirby doesn't want him back

As much as I like McClendon, he isn't really the reason we are in the playoffs. He hasn't recruited nearly as well while he has been at South Carolina.

He isn't a homerun hire, but he is a very solid one.

We would love to have him back, but I don't think there is a spot for him right now. But, I don't keep up with position coaches that closely.

He's a good one, though. He'll probably make an excellent OC one day and is lights out recruiting.

The state of Tennessee is also loaded with an unprecedented class of instate recruits in 2019

Let's see the top 10.

The state of Tennessee's highest rated recruit for 2019 is .95 on 247.

You have to go down to #15 on Georgia's list to get to a .95, that's not really surprising considering the talent in Georgia next year.

UGA already has the two of the top three players in state committed for next year, and will most likely have all 3 of the top 3 before it's over.

There's bad blood between Kirby and McClendon. He's unlikely to be back at Georgia as long as Kirby is here.

I'll be SHOCKED if Tennessee doesn't have a top 3 recruiting class in 2019.

Easy there fella. Pruitt is in a tougher recruiting position than Butch was in a lot of ways. For example, McClendon, Pruitt, and Sherrer are very connected in Georgia, but it will be tougher going head to head with a strong UGA in Georgia than it was going against a fading Richt.

We were the 6th best recruiting class in the conference in 2014 thanks to McClendon's help.

I'd say that we've found ways to be OK since he moved on.

I believe JP and staff will get the attention of the roster this off-season and several players might hit the door by request or on their own. I'm not sure about the talent level left behind by Butch. A winning record in 2018 would be a good start. It's time for the Vols to get back to being a good football program. 11 in a row is sweet no doubt but it's better to beat somebody that has beaten someone.

This is why we need a Georgia recruiter like McClendon. He's a beast in Georgia.

Pruitt, Sherrer, Fair, Friend and Rocker can handle recruiting Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, SC, NC, Virginia and Tennessee.

Rumph, Gillespie, and Kelly for Florida.

Helton and Neidameyer handle the West Coast.

I didn't know this. I do remember seeing somebody post about bad blood between Kirby and a former assistant coach, but I didn't remember that it was McClendon.
