Stupidity isn’t exclusive to football and basketball players. Half of the STL Cardinals roster think the earth is flat.

Stupidity is pretty common throughout America, not just sports. Our education system is shite compared to much of the rest of the world, and for a "privileged" country we have an insane amount of people that have to be supported through the tax system.

JMO - don't expect anyone else to agree with it. I've lost respect for pro athletes just from these videos showing absolute idiots wasting hundreds of millions of dollars. I'm not a pro sport fan anymore - and College isn't far behind. When college players start getting paid - and wasting it - that will probably do it for me with them too.

I'll bet the NFL and the individual teams management are not happy with these videos. Wouldn't surprise me to see the NFL & NBA discourage players from doing them.

You, and your immediate family, and the moochers, go from a poverty mindset to being told you can afford anything in the world. It's an unfortunate system. Financial training and a support system that helps them understand their responsibilities is critical. Don't know what that looks like or how it can be implemented.

No! That's not what bothers me so much about this. What bothers me about it is how stupid the players are. The bad decisions they make with money is just the tip of the iceberg - all of their decision making is affected by their ignorance. I never really thought deeply about any of this. I knew they weren't rocket scientists but I didn't realize they're almost autistic. Sadly it looks like most pro athletes are complete morons - really low IQ individuals - with extremely poor Life skills. There is no fix for this. They're just dumbass fools and nothing can fix a dumbass fool.

Do you not realize these guys get "financial" training not only from the schools but from the league, the union and most legitimate agency firms like IMG?

They should all take Gronk’s approach when he got in the league. Dude was shopping at Goodwill

Gronk seems like a pretty good dude. Never takes himself or life too seriously. Just enjoying the ride.

Why does this small snapshot of athletes trigger you so much?

How bout if you saw a video of brokers on Wall Street who blew their fortunes on hookers and blow?
How bout lottery winners who blew their fortunes?

I honestly dont get the anger.

I don't enjoy seeing anyone do really stupid things. The pro players in these videos are literally so stupid they couldn't pass a 4th grade spelling test. They're so ignorant they're almost retarded - in fact I'm sure many of them are retarded. It's pathetic.

You think they represent all pro players?

How bout if we make a composite video of the trashiest of the trashiest Bama fans and I post it on here as an example of how idiotic Bama fans are?

I think they represent an uncomfortably high percentage - 78% to be exact.

There are a lot more dumbass fools posting dumbass shite here and everywhere. But I'd bet money the majority of posters here at the SEC Rant could pass a 4th grade spelling test - and far less than 78% go bankrupt.

Now get your scrawny Georgia arse out of my sight.

The NFLPA CBA most certainly could do that very thing.

They probably won't, but to say they "can't" is utterly false.

It’s almost like giving people money doesn’t prevent them from continuously making dumb decisions. Which is why reparations will do jack shite.

Yeah, and to be clear I'm not with OP on the "hurr, pro athletes iz dumb" parade. Young people period are often dumb when it comes to money. I certainly was.

It means you said they can't force someone to contribute to a program.

The players certainly could vote to include some form of defined benefits post-career income program with a mandatory contribution as part of a collective bargaining agreement just as they have any other benefit.

You can ignore the obvious if you want but these videos prove, unequivocally, a high percentage of professional athletes in the NFL & NBA are not only immature but they are legit imbeciles with extremely low IQs incapable of passing the most basic grade school level educational skills tests.

This is what you said

quote:

the league had a mandatory deferred compensation program - say

You CANNOT have MANDITORY deferred compensation program between you and your employer PERIOD.

You can have one thats negotiated or voluntary.

You think your employer can arbitrarily force you to defer your compensation?
