He had every intention to play this year, then practice started and he realized how awful Brennan has been in practice and Chase realized his draft stock would drop with such a awful QB.

This OP makes a solid point. Yep, ever NFL scout is going to drop Chase out of the first round because his QB couldn't get him the ball or even close enough.
