So what you’re saying is this highest rated college football games involve the highest rated teams? And you think this proves that Alabama specifically brings in additional casual viewers that would not watch if it was a USC dynasty? Or Ohio State? Or whoever is next?

I'm not sure what you are saying. But then neither are you/ What I am saying and what the OP asserted is that Bama moves the needle. They are the Dallas Cowboys of college football as far as ratings go.

If you are saying any god team can get high ratings I have to differ. USC could not move the needle in SEC country during their run. And neither can OSU. Bama delivers the South demographic at unprecedented levels and has a national appeal.

The refs are cheating by not calling penalties on teams holding Bama's DL. But this is part of some convoluted scheme to make it seem like they are not favoring Bama- by actually not favoring Bama

This is dumb but your other points are good

Bowl games suck. Ive been in denial for a long time. Its just not that fun watching exhibition games. It is the right career move for promising players to sit out. Ill watch a few of the good matchups but they just arent that good.

3. The rise of the minor leagues like the AAF. Soon they will start poaching college kids who want to actually make money while risking their futures instead of being left out to dry if they get injured in college.

I dont think think this will have a huge impact one way or the other for fan interest, although it will be a healthy thing for CFB. Fan support isnt relative to the talent of the players. Fan support would be huge for CFB even if only a fraction of players relative to today were going pro. Its a regional pride kinda thing.

God, Bama fans are insufferable. Casual fans don’t tune in because of Saban. Other than Bama fans and national media, everyone suffers from Bama fatigue.

The real reason CFB popularity is going to decrease is bc interest in football is already decreasing and has been. Add the accessibility and popularity of soccer.

Bama fan thinks college football dies when Bama loses their coach who created a dynasty. You don't say?

Sorry pal, CFB makes a ton of money. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

What?OSO,ND,Texas can all "move the needle"

delivers the south
LMFAO

What does this even mean?

UGA,UF,LSU and even FSU would "deliver the south" with similar
success.

If the NCAA loses the Alston antitrust suit (ruling should come in the next month or two) and if it loses on appeals, then say "goodbye" to amateurism.

The outcome of this lawsuit mayhap some significant unintended consequences. I think it could put in motion Fair as also meaning academically as qualified as any other student entering the institution. Everyone knows that Division 1 football players are held to a lower standard academically. If my suggestion proves true this will hurt the very people that are trying to get paid because they won't even qualify to be in a school.

dynastic
I don’t correct grammar, but I do correct diction. This is not an adjective meaning dynasty-like. It would mean Saban’s 1st-born son would succeed him as coach.

Radically disagree. There's about fifteen to thirty huge fanbases out there waiting for Saban to go. That will more than make up for any potential loss of the casual fan.

Thoroughly disagree. The value for college football teams - unlike the pros - is largely locked into the brand itself rather than the players. I don't think minor league systems are going to offer much of a salary, either - the total compensation packages will be less than those of college scholarships to D-1 schools. If the minor leagues survive, it will mostly be kids who are borderline college kids academically, socially, and athletically.

We're going to see players getting a lot more "stipend" money in the future, and it will increase each year and be really good for the seniors.

We'll also see the system dramatically changed with regard to how schools will be allowed to insure players, and it'll be for a lot more money, based upon their potential draft spots after their junior seasons. And it should be that way.

I've been fortunate enough to get to see a lot of practices and games, up close and from the sidelines over the past decade. The size and speed of the guys out there these days is stunning ... and it's incredibly violent. We're seeing DBs these days who, not that long ago would have been LBs. We're seeing DLinemen and OLinemen who are so big and strong ... I mean the trench battles literally sound like combat at times. Or like small cars hitting head on. I've heard legs snap and knees come apart and gone home thinking it sounded like chicken bones being wrenched apart underwater ... except a lot louder.

I saw Marcus Lattimore's knee come apart 25 yards away with my Son standing next to me ... and I've seen actual combat - it still made me cringe and turn away but I'll never forget the screams from Lattimore or the screams for help from Tennessee players.

These kids deserve more. It's the way the game is going. It's a 24/7/365 job for them these days and they are still pushed to make the grades, attend classes, attend team charity functions, etc.

We say we treat them like gods already, and we do to some extent but imho they deserve more.

Start off smallish ... a few hundred bucks a month like they are getting now. Then double it every year. Pay that injury insurance rider their senior season ... they deserve it. Doesn't have to be a million dollar policy for all of them, but the standouts ... yeah, they deserve it and who knows, it might be enough to make them stay.
