One of the most overblown things about Kiffin. He’s pretty much followed a similar natural progression as other big time coaches.
USC Assistant - 6 years - left to be NFL head coach
Raiders Head Coach - 2 years - fired (not his choice)

Alabama Assistant - 3 years - left to be head coach again

Of the hundreds of assistants who worked under Saban over the years, many who went on to have incredible success, isn’t Kiffin the only one to ever be fired before the season ended?

He will be coaching the Miami Dolphins in 2028 and then after an up and down journey will then take over the Tide where he will win multiple National Championships over 17 years.

No
Michigan State fired Bobby Williams 9 games into the 2002 season.
Sark was fired by USC 5 games into 2015
Tennessee fired Butch before the end of the season
I’m sure there are more

I meant fired by Saban. He always let his assistants finish out the year. Well, all but one.
That brings up another interesting question. What other SEC coaches have left their team in the weeks before a playoff or national championship game? I can only think of one in recent history.

Probably, the same way as it ended at your school, maybe even under more dramatic circumstances.
We are hoping that he wins 1 national championship and sets the program right.
He also grooms a good DC (Blake Baker, I am hoping) on the finer points of program and roster management (Kiffin is a master at that) before that happens. He also creates the revenue streams from which we can fund our roster in the subsequent years after his departure.
Saban was a pioneer in program building. He stayed just 5 years at LSU, but he showed us how to get it done, he showed us what we could become, the heights which we could reach.
Lane Kiffin, and you might not like it, has done the same at Ole Miss.
While our coach Brian Kelly was good in the old era of college football, he was not the man for the era of NIL and the transfer portal. Hell he did not understand the talent needed to win in the SEC, the physicality of play and most importantly SEC recruiting. Kiffin will be a step up in that direction.

They may be now, but they clearly weren’t in January 2017 when Saban told him it was best that he pack up and leave the Alabama facility.

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban, who was interviewed for the 60-minute documentary, said the move was mutual. “Now, you got two priorities tugging at you,” Saban said. “The head coaching job that I have, the offensive coordinator job that I have, and how do I manage that. I thought Lane was struggling with that, so we mutually agreed he was ready to move on and it might have been in our best interest that he move on.”
