It looks like he was panicking at the defender closing in on him and tried to throw it out of bounds

Don’t have a clip, but Reggie Ball of GT, in UGA territory..late 4th qtr..down 6..on 4th down..sails one into the stands to avoid a sack. That’s the dumbest play ever.

And then they lost to freaking Wake Forest the next week in the ACCCG.
Roman Reigns was a defensive captain on that team. He destroyed Auburn in 05.

I remember thinking he just panicked and threw it to the wrong guy. This was Petrino's first season and he was still learning the playbook.

That was a pretty hideous pass. Kid had good wheels mind you.
For the Casey Dick pass I think he either was trying to throw it out of bounds and didn't put enough mustard on it, or he thought the WR was running a curl and would turn back for the ball. Still, the Dick brothers get a pass for all that because they were part of the greatest sports headline ever. "Nutt pulls out Johnson, puts in Dick."

I'm going to assume that was a headline on the Internet, because most newspapers are still too staid to take the innuendo quite that far.
