Quote: A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to athletic conference membership by institutions of higher education. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is amended by adding Section 51.979 to read as follows: Sec. 51.979. COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MEMBERSHIP. Notwithstanding any other section of this code, a public senior college or university, as defined by Section 61.003(4), and the governing board of each institution may not change membership in a collegiate athletic conference without passage of a concurrent resolution by a majority vote in both legislative chambers. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.

And just as your Former Governor Perry, an Aggie Alum said he would let you all go to the SEC, Your current Governor Abbott, a Texas alum is going to let them go to the SEC.

Baylor likes to litigate itself into some form of relevance… even if only for a month or so.

If Baylor and Tech can block this move then Every fan of an SEC school should call both schools and thank them for keeping that bunch of arrogant windbags out of our conference.

You are going to tell me Perry did not back you all from leaving. If the Governor of a State says he backs his alma mater leaving a conference to another, then unless there is enough power in the legislature to pass a bill and override a veto, it is not being stopped.

Sorry, I am not buying that Perry's support, albeit behind close doors, was not not significant in Aggie's leaving the BIG12 hassle free.

I’m sure Texas never considered this possibility nor thought to have a contingency in place…I’m sure. Way bigger problems for the government to deal with compared to a university changing conferences.

No one ever accused Texas of being smart. You trashed the SWC, then needed the Big 8 to bail you out.

Then you guys tried to plan a jump to the PAC-10 with A&M, but didn't make sure A&M was on board first, driving off Colorado, Missouri & Nebraska. A&M was already sick of your shite so they were ready to leave for the SEC anyway.

Now a decade later you realize the LHN is a joke. You drove off the bigger schools of your conference and see the irrelevance of the Big 12 going forward because of your actions, so you have to run to the SEC.

Except you think you are marching in on a horse, when you're really crawling with your tail between your legs.

F**k Texas.

Didn't the ACC do something similar back when Va Tech tried to enter the league? I can't recall

They are scared of being left out. Whose fault is that?

Won’t matter. Let Baylor whine. It didn’t matter for Aggy leaving; it won’t matter for the teasips.

I can guarantee UTA won't be able to move until the other Texas schools get a parachute.
