Playoff committee - does LSU really want to risk this?

If LSU has as good a team this year as they claim, why on earth would they risk a playoff spot over these players? The CFP has already said they would consider any team using former NFL players ineligible.
And this time the law will be against you:
The College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee operates as an independent private entity (CFP Administration, LLC) governed by its Board of Managers, giving it legal and operational separation from state court rulings that govern conference regular-season play.
Subjectivity and Committee Authority
The Florida State Precedent: The 2023 Florida State decision established that an undefeated record does not guarantee a playoff berth. The committee's official selection protocol explicitly grants discretionary power to evaluate roster availability, competitive strength, and team integrity without judicial interference.
Discretion of Private Selection Bodies: Courts grant wide legal deference to private athletic associations regarding postseason invitations. Lawsuits challenging subjective playoff selections face near-impossible legal standards because postseason participation is deemed a privilege rather than a constitutionally protected property right.
State Court Jurisdiction Limits
Scope of the Louisiana Injunction: Judge William Jorden’s Louisiana preliminary injunction explicitly names the NCAA, the SEC, and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey as defendants. Because the CFP Selection Committee is a separate corporate entity and not a party to the Louisiana state lawsuit, the local state court order cannot compel the CFP committee to rank or invite LSU.
CFP Management Committee Authority: The CFP Management Committee—composed of the FBS conference commissioners and Notre Dame's athletic director—holds sole governance over playoff eligibility rules. If the CFP leadership adopts a formal postseason policy barring programs that field players with professional contract experience, that rule applies nationally across the entire playoff format regardless of local state court TROs.
Even if state court orders protect LSU from immediate SEC regular-season penalties within Louisiana, the CFP Selection Committee retains absolute legal authority to leave LSU out of the 12-team postseason bracket.

Funny yall said the same thing about the SEC
If the CFP committee leaves us out based on this, and they have already indicated they may, they will.be added to the lawsuit as well

True statement. CFP is a separate org and could absolutely leave LSU out (and the numerous other teams) if they play players from NFL training and minicamps.

I’m pretty sure they genuinely don’t care

LSU would just sue the CFP for collusion with the NCAA and SEC.

They'd be sued faster than the players sued the NCAA. Old piss would be out if they made it because the NCAA ruled Chambliss ineligible.

Ask Florida State how that went. Nothing you can do buddy.

It would be immediately dismissed. Can you even read?

Texas and USCe are both rostering players who participated in multiple minicamps, no outrage, no threats of expulsion, no lawsuits

Does the playoff committee do a better job than the commissioner at defining what an NFL player is? That’d be a terrific place to start.

They could but they’re going to have to create some criteria quickly because a shite ton of schools are rostering these guys right now. Hell, Missouri was court ordered to roster one.

I didn't read your post. For all the melts, I doubt LSU rosters and plays the guys.

I know. It’s selective outrage towards LSU. Sankey is an idiot.

Not sure how a court will be able to force the CFP to include LSU when they have sole discretion on who gets in.
What's the lawsuit going to be? Put LSU in and X team out? That wouldn't work. Can't go to 13 teams either.
LSU is fricked.

Im not melting or trolling. Asking an honest question. Everyone seems to think yall have a really good team.
Why on earth would you take this risk just to troll sankey and the conference?
I mean it would be one thing if you were expecting an 8-4 type season. Who cares in that instance.
But 10-2 or better? And then get screwed over like FSU did? Not worth it man.

Or maybe the CFP Committee is smart enough to know when you’re fricking beat, you’re beat. How many levels do you want to get beat? I don’t know if you noticed, but this version of LSU doesn’t roll over.
If everyone could get their heads out of their asses, they’d come to grips with this: the 2022 signing class got fricked out of a year eligibility. It’s time to let it go. Give them their year. The water has been muddied too much on what’s a pro vs what’s not. There’s no standard. Let the kids have their year and let’s move the frick on. It’s really not that difficult.

I agree, I don't think they will unless they're 100% sure they won't get punished.
As you said, there's no reason to.
