John Bond from State was 4-0 against LSU

Yeah, I remember hearing the "License To Kill LSU" line more times than I can remember...He definitely had the Tigers' number...

Most dominant I ever saw in person:

I, Auburn fan, was invited to the Kentucky vs South Carolina game in 1995.

I watched Mo Williams run until his legs gave out. No one could stop him.

Rushing yards 299
Receiving yards 57
Kickoff return 73
All-purpose yards - 429

In person, it felt like more than that.

I’ve only been watching the tigers since the early 90’s. The only info I have before then is the stories my dad shares.

People think the 90s were bad for LSU, but 1983 was the only season LSU has ever gone winless in the SEC. (Still beat USCe, though - and UW).

LSU struggled in the early 80s after losing their newly hired HC, Bo Rein, to an airplane accident prior to his first season in 1980. Former LSU HB (and Heisman runner-up) Jerry Stovall was hired at the last minute to replace him.

Stovall would go:
1980 7-4 (4-2)
1981 3–7–1 (1–4–1)
1982 8–3–1 (4–1–1)
1983 4–7 (0–6)
...losing to State, led by QB John Bond, each year.

Notable wins for LSU during that time included:
1982:
24-13 @ #4 UF
20-10 @ #11 Bama
55-21 vs #7 FSU (fans threw Oranges on the field after LSU secured an Orange Bowl bid after the win)

1983:
40-14 vs #9 Washington

...but none against State.

Y'all had a fullback, from Ohio ,I think. That son of a gun is still in my nightmares. Can not think of his name to save me. Would have loved for him to play for Clemson.

Came here to say this. Pretty sure he returned a kick for a touchdown against us about 6 years in a row

Anyone who kicks FG’s and extra points on our own team. They could be the best kicker ever in practice but once the game starts it’s like they gain amnesia and forget which foot to use.

Doesn't count if you are clearly outclassed and some dude is rolling up big numbers. Tebow/Wuerffel/Tua/Burrow killed just about everybody.

For LSU during my awareness as a fan, there are only two:

John Bond
Matt Jones

Really dating myself here. Don’t have the stats on hand, but I remember Eric Moulds torching Alabama pretty much every time we played MS State.

I will go out and say it despite Gamecock fans maybe getting on me.

Ryan Brewer is the most overrated player in Gamecock history. He was amazing in the two bowl games against Ohio State but outside of that he was mediocre. Andrew Pinnock was the real beast on that those teams in FB/RB position. Brewer was undersized and not fast. Man those bowl games were great at a time when we couldnt seem to win bowl games.

also usually overrated is seen as a negative, but I dont mean it to. He is a good dude, with a lot of heart. those games were awesome, but they were outliers
