i have to agree... Fannin is way too high for being a glorified x factor player being put at RB.

Its hard to fathom Trent Richardson only being the seventh or eighth best back in the SEC...

What makes it even more odd is that he has Marcus Lattimore on the 3rd team. The guy hasn't even played a down yet.

Maybe it's because South Carolina's offensive line is so much better than Alabama's . . .

. . oh, wait.

While Steele has accurate predictions, relative to how teams will finish. His All-Conference, and All-American picks are always strange.

How about the fact that Steele has Marcus Lattimore who hasn't played a goddammn down of NCAA football as the 3rd team running back???

It would be one thing if he went to Auburn or UGA or even LSU, but when is the last time USCe had a running back who even cracked 1000 yards? He might be the starter from day 1, but until they prove they can field a decent OL, he will be lucky to get ~500 yards next year.

I am guessing that he thinks that Lattimore and Fannin will get tons of more carries and catches than Richardson and have much better stats. I don't take it as he thinks they are better than TR.

I wasn't going to be critical of anyone over Richardson (trying to stay positive)...the placement of Lattimore is a joke, and while I like Fannin A LOT, he does have a bit of fumbleitis.

I'll go ahead and say Julio is shaky to be a first team selection too...obviously Steele is ranking based on his huge upside and tons of potential (see Lattimore), but I'm judging strictly based on numbers.

Yes, he played he'd probably be first team if he wasn't suspended half the season.

I just read Phil Steele's full write up on the Gamecocks. He picks us to finish #21. He also writes "SC is a legit SEC contender and even made my list of Surprise Teams (Darkhorse National Title Contender, pg 20)."

I mention this because the only way USC finishes randked 21st, let alone wins the SEC (and I'm not even going to comment on the MNC possibilities), is if Garcia has a fantastic year. On Garcia, Steele says "I expect Garcia to have the best season of any Spurrier QB at SC by far." Yet, he picks 4 QB's ahead of Garcia on the all-SEC teams -- two of whom have yet to take a meaningful snap. Sometimes these analysts just don't make any sense.

the first thing I thought when I saw this was Steele must think Garcia is just garbage A bit odd to say the least.

Hell he only had 34 carries last year, but averaged 8.4 ypc and the dude has never fumbled out of 252 total touches.. He'll have over 1,000 yards, and will be all-SEC by default because of Malzahn's offense..
