Finally! Glad they are seeing the bigger picture. Undoubtedly the biggest issue with the regular season is the lack parity and frequency to each team’s schedule. LSU visits UK this year for the first time since 2007. A freshman in this year’s game would’ve been 3 or 4 years old the last time that occurred.

It would make preseason rankings carry more weight than they should.

Is that the Bluegrass Miracle or the one y'all lost in OT due to a personal foul?

Not an LSU fan, but it was the one in OT.

Which sounds crazy when you think they played every year for 50 years up until that point.

Do away with divisions, fix the scheduling issues, let teams opt in to or opt out of their rivalry games, and let the best two teams play in ATL in December. Everyone is happy.

Sounds like the playoff committee is worried about having to take 2 SEC teams every year.

This is moronic. It’s far more likely a P5 conference matches up #6vs #9 and ends up knocking a team out of an at-large spot.

It’s very rare a P5 champion isn’t one of the top 5 ranked power conference champions. It happened last year because the Pac12 played only 5 games, but I don’t think it’s happened at any other point in the playoff era.

The ND-Clemson example is a joke. Matching ND-Clemson helped the ACC under the current format, but all it’d do under a 12-team one is potentially knock out Clemson.

Good. Get rid of divisions, cap conferences at 10 teams, require each team to play every team in their conference every year.

They've needed to standardize conference scheduling for a long while now. Everyone should be playing 9 conference games.

I agree. Playing 3 or 4 annual games and rotating the rest of the conference in a 9 game system would help strengthen everyones schedule while creating an even playing field. It would also help counter the 'expanding the playoff would minimize the importance of the season' argument.

But every time this has gone to a vote in the SEC every damn team votes it down except Alabama. WTH? Why won’t the school AD’s/Presidents/Coaches in the conference get onboard with this?

Keep the Divisions , but go to a 12 team playoff and make the Division Champs automatic qualifiers. That would fill in 10 slots and have the P5 Champ Games as the first round. The other two slots are determined by a mini tournament from a 4 team at large non-P5 playoff. Not much difference than the 12 team proposal, but would still have Conferences Champ Games..

Meh. Without rankings the sport isn't as interesting and the fans have less to talk about. Besides, every team has the same opportunity to prove itself over a full season. Taking away preseason rankings will change nothing on the field, and nothing at the end of the season when ranking truly matters.

You can still have a conference championship game without divisions.

Thank god, maybe now we can go to Athens more often than once every 15 years like we’re currently scheduled to By far my favorite road trip.
