he also had a lot of really bad games where he couldn't stop a sneeze. He couldn't adjust to good coaching and the defensive fundamentals weren't good. This year's Bama team is giving up more points but it's a much better defense. They've got a lot of key stops and they've shut a lot of teams down in the second half, something's Golding's defense couldn't do. Stats don't always tell the tale

This…. he routinely dropped Will Anderson back in coverage too, lol

you know the reason. Bama can't be beat. if they lose it's because they beat themselves or maybe they had a starter out. you know things that other teams never have to go through.

His defense performed better against Moo than did Fathers Time Steele and Saban. So there’s that.

You’ve gotta admit that this will never top the we’re-down-37-scholarship-players that y’all have been trotting out for the last three years.

“Oh no, we can’t stop FSU in the second half!”
“Well, we’re-down-37-scholarship-players.”

“How the hell is Ole Miss beating us?”
“We can’t win these types of games when we’re-down-37-scholarship-players.”

“That motherfrickin’ Dallas Turner is a dirty player and was mean to JD5 and refs and SEC offices in B’ham!”
“This is what we get when we’re-down-37-scholarship-players, baw.”

Congrats... I guess? That's the way it is at the end-of-season, playing meaningless games [for a least one team].

I'll bookmark this for for you, see how it ages next fall.

Some of you are complete football idiots if you don’t realize how much better Bama is defensively this year to last year - night and day in terms of composure and alignment.

Alabama gave up 17 to State this year. Golding's defense tonight only gave up 7.

Sure - as long as you don't look at any statistical comparisons since that doesn't back up that argument.

They can’t. He was their only scapegoat over there. Hell I heard them choking vs Texas was Goldings fault.

I think Golding was at fault for Alabama’s defensive struggles over the prior half decade but there were other factors too.

Still, I imagine he will be a fine defensive coordinator for Ole Miss. Also, not much to takeaway from a game where he played a bad offense that had their starting QB playing with a bum throwing shoulder.

Golding is who he is. His defenses only play two kinds of games:

1. Games in which they dominate the opposing offense

2. Games in which they look completely lost and give up 500+ yards and 40+ points while making no adjustments at all

The majority of games with him will be from category #1. Because of this his total defensive stats always look good. The problem is that he is good for one or two of those #2 games every year, and they will usually be in the most important games. He's doing it this year too - see the LSU and UGA games for proof. The difference is that Ole Miss fans will chalk those failures up to lack of talent because they don't really expect to win those games anyway. Bama fans blew a gasket every time it happened because we do. Not a dig, just reality.

We are light years better on defense this year whatever the stats may say. If y'all are happy with Golding then more power to you, that's great. We're just glad he's gone.

Bingo. Sad but true. It was 52 points in Knoxville last season. I dare say the most an Alabama defense has given up….ever.
