He's right. Auburn has a long way to go to catch up to Bama as a viable BB rival.
Bama fans still using the past as a way to make the present feel less relevant. Pretty nostalgic. Look dude, you play in a shithole with no fan support. This isn't like football where you can just get lucky and hire a failed professional coach and set the world on fire. You tried though.

They are. So is Jacksonville state, Alabama state, etc

You forgot to add and actually have to win on the court. No mulligans in BB.

Both Auburn and UAB are second-tier programs that have only occasional football success and so focus on basketball to help hide their shame. So yeah, it makes sense that they would be rivals.

You probably need to learn how basketball works if you're going to jump on the bandwagon. There are 36 at large mulligans in every NCAA tournament.
Jesus, you people are bad at this.

Every NCAAB champion in the last 50 years has had mulligans.
You people need to learn basketball if you are going to make it your prime sport.

Sorry your basketball team sucks.

that is a certainly true. Just as it is true that the majority of Bama success was between 75-05. And, just as it is true that Bama's roster regardless of race has been historically better than Auburn's.
Ask Wimp Sanderson how Bama was able to maintain a better roster over the years. He pretty much opened up about it when he got his radio gig.

CbB likely has now and has always had the most bought and paid for players.
Why do you think Auburn suddenly began getting good at sports in the 80s... they began to reinvest

The "everybody does it" excuse. Auburn got good in the 80s because they hired a Bryant disciple who knew how to play the game.

quote:I wouldn't have expected you to grasp the not so nuanced point that "rivalries" develop over time and need an equal level of followership and competition over that time, which requires a more holistic look. To my point, it hasn't been much of a rivalry. In ancient past and recent history, Bama has outperformed or been close to Auburn's success.
Bama fans still using the past as a way to make the present feel less relevant.
Since 2008 (a time period that Bama BB has been a joke), UA leads 13-10 in the "rivalry." And, took 2 of 3 last yr against one of the best Auburn teams in a decade+.
Also, as I said, Auburn is clearly ahead of Bama BB in the moment. No one has made the argument against or denied that UA has schit BB facilities and places limited interest in the sport... even when they do have good years. It's the biggest annual bandwagon sport in America that the vast majority of fans do not follow until March.

So, like he said, the same thing most everyone else did.

Bold talk for a program with a skinny, insignificant basketball pedigree.

And once Auburn figured it out, Eric Ramsey suddenly appeared. Amazing how that happened. At least with Logan Young, it wasn't AU who turned them in.

Really? I saw Auburn make the tourney (playoffs) even though they definitively weren’t the best team in the state

No one cares enjoy basketball season.

Wow army Tide I had no idea Bama basketball was rated that high in all those stats. Thanks for posting and the AU fans might wanna hold the shite talking until after we play cause a pretty piss poor Bama squad did spilt the regular season last year and then kicked AU out of the SEC tournament.
