AJ gets lumped into the group of other Bama QBs as a "game manager". Unfairly so.
AJ is different. More talented. Very smart too.
Wouldn't call him the best college QB, but he'd have to be considered on of the most accomplished. He'd have 4 rings, 3 rings as a starter.
I'm not sure about his NFL career, but I think we see AJ in the coaching realm later in life.

He'd be on the short list.
You can be a great college player even if you never do squat on the pros.
e.g. Tebow.

I'm curious how he translates to the nfl.
he'll make a roster for a while, but will never develop as a starter, IMO. He's does a bunch of things really well, but isn't elite with anything -- athleticism, arm-strengh, accuracy, intelligence.
Brady Quinn comes to mind.
This is one of the best descriptions of AJs game that I've ever seen posted.

If Vandy could have any QB is the SEC or the country for that matter, I'd take AJ. As long as we're pretending, without the tatoo.

Consider the source of this quote. A Saban/bama homey. He said on the first day of media days that his radio show was based in B.ham & his core fan base was bama & AU fans. He said he knows he has to expand his new show to cover all 14 teams equally. And then 2 days later he reverts back to his old bama loving self.

He's far from the best QB ever. He just has been on teams with alot of talent and good defenses. He just doesn't do anything to cost his team the games. Thats almost like saying the towel boy is the best in history because he was on teams that got that many NCs. If he was having to win the games and make the big plays he would not do as well.

well this is the internet and you have your opinion.
even though its wrong

It's hard to judge AJ as an individual player. He just has so much talent around him that it makes it next to impossible to get a feel on how he will translate into the NFL. He could be the next Tom Brady for all we know.

LSU and Georgia disagree.

I didn't know football was an individual sport like baseball or basketball where you can separate players to compare and contrast

quote:\
come on now... he's not Andrew Luck or anything, but the guy is smart with the ball, has a great arm, accurate, and runs the offense well... that team doesn't win the SEC or NCs with Bo Wallace, for example (not meant as a slight to BW, he just seems like the median for SEC QBs).
He's a great QB but he's not even the best in the conference.

agreed. He's second, maybe third on the list... you switch McCarron and Murray and Bama doesn't skip a beat.
