Pac12 south harder than SEC west?

Jim Mora and Steve Sarkisian said on SportsCenter earlier that the Pac12 south is harder than the SEC west.
ETA: I would put the SEC east over the Pac12 south.

The Pac12 South is pretty stacked.....wouldn't put it ahead of the SEC West though.

Last season was close...but I'd still give the SEC West the crown.
This season remains to be seen obviously.
For reference
Arizona
Arizona St
UCLA
USC
Utah
Colorado
Colorado obviously drags them down. SEC West has more at the top...but depth wise, I'd say it is about even considering only colorado had less than 9 wins last year.

Yeah but considering the amount of blue chip recruits the west has year in and year out I would say the west is ahead of the curve. Now that the CFP is here a 2 loss West team would have way more credibility over a Pac12 south team.

Well, what exactly did the SEC West accomplish last year besides winning the SEC?

Last year was a shite show I admit. Of course Jim and Steve would be bias but would you really put the Pac12 south over the west?

Arkansas could've beaten all of them last year.

Sure is a good thing that recruiting rankings count in games....Missouri is example #1 that recruiting rankings don't mean anything.
I've admitted that the West was better at the top and bottom...but I'd give the middle to the PAC.
Teams with 9+ wins
SECW - 3/7
PACS- 5/6
SEC played 8 conference games, while PAC plays 9. Considering most people's non-con schedules...all things equal, the SEC should average one more win.

We have the chance to shut that argument down in the first week.

Arkansas lost to Missouri lost to Indiana lost to Bowling Green lost to Ball State lost to UMass lost to Colorado <-last place in Pac12s.
Pac12s > SECw

I would say its pretty close. Arizona, ASU, UCLA and USC are all solid teams. The difference is that we have 2 additional solid teams with good defenses.

After a&m loses week 1 to ASU, there might be an argument made...

Once either of them wins their conference, let's talk.

A&M will whip ASU and put that debate to rest. The Pac 12 South has some parity, and USC and UCLA are recruiting at a high level, but beyond that, it's not comparable. ASU, Arizona, Utah and Colorado would in the lower half of the SEC West at best. The talent and depth just isn't there.

While I think they might have been better than a lot of other divisions last year, they were not remotely close to the West. USC, ASU, Utah and Zona were all average teams last year. A very young Arizona team won that division lest we forget. Then promptly got schooled by Boise State. Having said that, they were young teams and will all be better this year. But they are several recruiting cycles away from being able to make that claim make any sense. Were the best two wins Oregon and Notre Dame? They'll need more than that.

The Mississippi schools would run roughshod over that division
