Probably a bit of both, honestly.
Most football players are top-tier athletes and are way healthier than most people. Presuming that the amount of damage is normal with other viral infections, they're better off than most of us. The flip side is that if it turns out to be way more severe, then the constant aerobic activity could trigger things that most of us never encounter.
Personally, I'm thinking they'll be okay - but we should realize if just one person dies from it, or is severely hospitalized from it, that'll be it. They won't take the chance, because even if they sign a waiver nothing will stop a massive legal onslaught if a kid dies from it.

The condition is usually caused by a viral infection, including those that cause the common cold, H1N1 influenza or mononucleosis. Left undiagnosed and untreated, it can cause heart damage and sudden cardiac arrest, which can be fatal. It is a rare condition, but the COVID-19 virus has been linked with myocarditis with a higher frequency than other viruses, based on limited studies and anecdotal evidence since the start of the pandemic.
This is from the ESPN story on Myocarditis.

He knows that. You can look up death rates from playing football with a simple google search and some of them factor in long term effects from playing. I do love that other people get to arbitrarily decide our risk tolerance now.

The same article being sent around includes the doctor saying you can easily test for myocarditis.
But that hasn’t been included in any of the headlines

Why is everyone pretending that this is the first time we have discovered the connection between certain viruses and myocarditis? We have known this from the beginning, even with Covid-19.
These blue-check doctors are so attention-drunk from scaring people and dictating policy that they just cannot stop.

Now all of a sudden myocarditis is an “unknown” possibility? I eluded to it in a paper I published in 2009 about sudden cardiac death among athletes. It happens after most infections. We watch for warning signs all the time. Screening now is very good. Nothing new here.

Nobody here cares about the players. Just need muh footballll.

In other words, every single viral illness known to man has rare, devastating complications.
Does the question then become, should public policy therefore focus on stopping the transmission of all cases, or on rationally protecting the people who are most at risk of these rare complications?

because the left prey on the low information people out their, their voters, and introduce something like this as something new to spread fear to shut something down they don't believe in or want knowing those people will just believe any bullshite that is spoon fed them and will not do any research on their own...

You just described both sides of the spectrum. Stop pretending the Right isn't just as guilty as the Left for this.

Talked to an AD yesterday about the differing opinions of doctors, re the virus:
"I can find one cardiologist that says, I don’t think it’s safe to play."
"I can find another who says, if you do these things, you can play."

If the conclusion of the Pac 12 and Big Ten medical experts is to shut down and the conclusion of the SEC and Big 12 medical experts is to keep going people better be willing to talk about it in detail and on the record

based on limited studies and anecdotal evidence
The heart is a muscle and can get inflamed for any number of reasons. Of course there is a chance of myocarditis, but this could be caused by the flu or any other virus. We live with this threat on a daily basis. They act as COVID-19 is the only thing that can cause this, literally, this can be caused by drug or a virus or any number of factors. We do not see a rash of 20 something people who have contracted COVID-19 have inflamed hearts.
I mean I have been in literally countless meetings with virologist since this started and it amazes me how many want to be the one to give the definitive diagnosis. Their exuberance to understand and explain what they found about the virus outweighs their knowledge of the actual virus. I have come to realize so much of it is actual conjecture based on a few results.
Every time there is a prediction it is the most dire, most horrible prediction about COVID-19. It is not just football, they make policy based on their dire predictions with little regard for the unforeseen results of those decisions. I can imagine these Pac-12 laypeople sitting a meeting talking about all the dire issues football players can have. Everyone of these doctors are trained to talk in authoritative, confident manner regardless of their actual knowledge. I see it almost everyday, they can be persuasive until you start asking some basic questions.

Sometimes people (or conferences) know the outcome they have wanted all along and just need to find a way to sell it. This risk is not a new discovery.
